If your cannons only hit for 700 dps, you really need an upgrade there, too. Your cannons should be hitting 2-3k apiece per shot (before the vs. shields and armor).

For grinding Tier 4, I used the Red Sin Chimera hyperpoint at Endor and took on the waves of fighters that spawned near there. (Death Watch and Black Sun, all Tier 4s)

ya what they said target wepaons and the rest is simple capsitor to shileld shunt helps alot too.

Bah, fly whatever you want to fly. You'll get components upgraded and RE'd in time.

For your more immediate concern, though: Look up the RSF Trainer in the Palace in Theed and grab the Tier 4 Destroy Duty (Black Suns) from her. She is a a good ways into the Palace, in the first small round room off to the right - I think the Imperial Admiral is across the hall. She's sarcastic, but a Tier 4 Black Sun Destroy mission is hard to beat. Also, there is a Tier 4 CorSec Trainer on Dant in the Mining Outpost Tavern/Cantina - Hidden Dagger Destroy Duty, I think.

I would suggest doing the Tier 4 BS duty mission from the trainer in the Theed palace(if he will talk to you, my alt is on Tier 4 for Smugglers Alliance but the trainer in the Theed palace who gives the T4 missions wont talk to me and i'm not sure why as the other pilot trainers in the palace will give me missions). The advice in the other posts is great and should be used but the problem with this mission is that you will get mulitple Agressors on you at once as the mission waves progress. If you are doing these missions solo then it's very hard to take on mulitple Agressors at the same time and be able to survive without taking damage.

Of course you could bring friends to help. But what I found is that my ship is equiped well enough for me to just go to Kessel to farm xp. This actually works out great for Smugglers Alliance pilots as once you are in Kessel, there is not alot of NPC's that will be agro to you(both Imps and Rebs are yellow). This gives you the abilty to hunt and pick your mobs without venturing into a hornets nest of agro. So right now at 3/3/4/4 and flying a Dunelizard I can go to Kessel and make excellent XP solo. You can even take out Agressors there no problem.... this is how:

Since the Agreessors in Kessel will be yellow to you, they will not agro. This gives you the ability to get very close and on their six, once you are in that position target Weapon 1 and go to town with your blasters. If you aim well and stay on target Weapon 1 will be destroyed before it gets through your sheilds. You can then proceed to finish it off without taking further damage if you can destroy it before it tries to turn on you. I have no problem doing it in my Dunelizard with WO3 CO3 EO3 and CTSS4. There are usually 1 or 2 other Imperial ships that will agro once you hit the Agressor but they will be Opressors or Interceptors and as long as you finish the Agressor in a timely manner it will be no problem and you can finish them off also before finding another Agressor.

That being said the Gunships there are great XP also ;P

I straight up do not fair well against the T5 aggressors that spawn on the destroy duty. And by "not fair well" I mean I get smoked.

I upgraded to a kimogila, mounted weapons with an average dps of 700 each, but only have 1150/1150 shields. I did start using css3 but it didnt make much of a difference up against the aggressor.

So, aside from grinding out the 3 million xp I have left on wild t3 spawns, what are my options and what advice do you have?

Thanks.

Upgrade those shields ASAP. My 1500/1500 shields are considered really light at that level, so even higher would be better.

Aggressors are a pain. What I've found to be the best method of dealing with them is to target their weapon and until it's destroyed try as hard as you can to stay either beside or in front of them. If you can get them to joust you it helps alot, chasing their tail doesn't do anything but give their turret plenty of time to aim at you. Having a fast droid interface helps a lot, and if you front sheilds take too much of a pounding, run away from them for a bit and let them shoot at your rear until you can shunt your shields high enough to turn and aim at them again.

I feel your pain... Anyhow here's what I did, I got sick of getting half way into the Duty and running off every 3 mission for new armor. So I found a Tier 3 spawn in space to hit.

After finding a good one (Raiders in Endor are the best imho, big slow heavy ships that make lovely targets) it took me about an hour or so to get the million xp. Not only that you'll pull parts as well, and alot of them helped me out greatly with the last of the Smugglers Guild Tier 4 missions.

Grind by killing everything you find in kessel. I think it is a faster grind. I was doing at last 1 mill exp a day when leveling Tier 4 and by day I mean like 6-8 hours of grinding. I wanted master pilot really bad though =)

Thanks for all the replies. I took a lot of the advice and I went back and used the vendor search to find another lv7 gun that fit and a new sheild with 1900/1900 and a new reactor all for 40k total. For clarification, the 700dps was after the vs sheild/armor but I was off a little from memory (posting from work; components at home) and was actually 816 or so for two guns, then the new lv7 I bought is 1029dps.

Then I tried against the aggressor waves one more time and found a little better luck, but 2 at a time still ripped me so I headed for Endor Red Sin like Halyn said and thats my new favorite place T4 ships 3 at a time I can handle fairly easily, even in the kimogila with its low p/y/r. Now hopefully Ill be able to scrounge up wingmen for the T4 missions and all will be well. WOOT.
