Speaking as a pilot, looking at the big picture: from PvE, choice of missions after mastery, daily annoyonces you have to deal with, choice of ships, and PvP, which profession do you prefer (rebel or imperial) and why?

Cordially,

Capt. Sittinon D'Fence.

( ive done them both at least twice, and is till can't make up my mind. each one has something thats appealing to me )

I really like the Alliance. I don't know why... but I do. I've aced Alliance, Imperial and privateer, but I have to say Alliance is my favorite. Though our droid programs sucks, our ships are pretty cool. And in-space repair & reload comes in handy.

I have 2 accounts, one I keep as a rebel ace and one as an imerial ace. I have to say the Xwing is the jack of all trades and I can't get enough of it. My Imperial alt uses an oppressor but I really want to be in the Tie interceptor all the time. But the lack of mass keeps me out of the Interceptor or adv.

I think the alliance got the better ships and imperial got the better programs and specials.
I have yet to use the repair and replenishment programs.

I have a neutral pilot, imperial pilot and a rebel pilot and must say for my playing style i like Imperial ships best, but what is best for you cant i tell i know some that like the neutral shisp best and other rebel ships. I say it all depends on how you fly and what you feel comfortable in.

I am only rebel pilot but I fought a lot of imperials and have friends who are imperial aces too.

I think both sides have their advantage and disadvantages.

The rebels have the X-Wing and the A-Wing as dominant ships in PvP both who fill their role quite well. X-Wings offer nice firepower for their mass (good against ships with many missiles) while A-Wings are probably the hardest ship to hit and quite maneuverable. The B-Wing excels in PvE against gunboats and such but all in all the X-Wing is the best PvE ship of both factions.

The empire has the Tie Oppressor, the Tie Interceptor and the Tie Advanced. The Oppressor just excels at killing A-Wings as 3 missiles are near impossible to defend against. It's okay maneuverability makes it a good allround ship in both PvE and PvP. The Interceptor and the Advanced are like sister and brother. The Interceptor offers less mass and only one weapon slot but gives a smaller profile in return while the Advanced packs more guns at the cost of profile. Both ships are excelent against X-Wings.

Thus I'd say that the rebels have the edge in PvE because of the firepower of their X-Wing (and in some cases even the Brick-Wing) while imperials have the edge in PvP as their Interceptors/Advanceds can engage rebels early, kill their X-Wings at relatively low risk and call in the Oppressors to mop the A-Wings up. Neither is really bad in either PvE or PvP though

As for multiplayer ships, the Decimator is hands down the best looking POB ship inside and outside. Only problem is that you can't dye it pink

Hello. I prefer Alliance because I tend to always root for the underdog, however here are some other reasons.

I, being one of those saddo Wedge Antilles 'I have the T-shirt and think he is the best character in the trilogy' types love the Alliance.

I don't personally fly the Y-wing unless XP farming for someone because it is slow and doesn't fly how I fly, but stll I love it. If not for th fact it looks utterly ridiculous and realistically it would never work if it existed .

Might think I'm crazy now but hey.

I also love the X-wing just for the sheer looks. Not the fact that some force sensitive n00b managed to fictionally blow up an over rated superlaser football. I don't know what it is. Please forgive the pun but I thinkits that 'X factor' [ok that was really bad lol]. An untangible reason to like somthing but you do anyway. It also flies well. I think SOE did a good job of it and the fact its relatively difficult to pvp in doesn't really matter to me. Its one hell of a pve ship and set up right and in the right hands can do some wonderful things.

The B-wing...erm. I admit, I hate it. I wish they'd fix those ridiculous wings, but on the flip side I have seen some most righteous piloting done in one by certain pilots on my server so its not a bad ship in essence, just an aquired taste and that taste I just havn't and won't ever acquire.

Now for the A-wing. What can I say? Wow. I love that ship and its only recently that I have come to love it. You can dodge missiles in that thing and even at a stand still its a hard target to hit. I love the way it handles, I love the way it looks and I love the imagined look of annoyance on [most] Imperial pilots faces when they get one on their 6. So ok it has a low mass, but I'm flying one with one of the post nerf tier 3 reward engines [the 79 speed one] re'd to 82 TS and with engine overload 4 it still flies like a bat out of hell.

As for the z-95. Its been ages since I flew it but it wasn't too bad from what i remember. Because I flew alliance before anything else, I didn't like the wide spread of its blasters but I got used to it. I must say the TIE fighter is a much more user friendly starter in my oppinion though.

Ok, now for Empire.

I have an Imperial alt. I've flown every ship, but out of them all without a doubt, the TIE Advanced is my favourite. I seen some awesome things done with an Oppressor but to me, it flies too sluggishly. Sure, I seen some people do real well with them but to me, I just feel its a bit of a joke. On one side of the coin, it isn't very Empire because its too I don't know. It just doesnt feel Imperial to me, but on the flip side of the coin again, I guess it is a symbol of the Empires phallicy and how they always tend to go over the top etc. Feel free to disagree. Why didn't they just make the TIE Defender? [Although it may not have been invented at this point in Starwars time setting]. I just personally don't like it.

The Advanced gives awesome manouverability along with just enough mass to squeeze decent weaponary on board.

The Interceptor is also a ship I love. I now have come to realise from flying Alliance primarily that if I see an Interceptor pilot in Deep space or overt in Kessel, they're either complete idiots who have no idea what they're doing.....or they're going to be harder than a fleet of Star destroyers armed with superlasers which never miss to kill .

I love to pvp with one and I love to pvp against them. They re one of those ships again with the X-factor of supreme coolness.

Hmm. Ok I could go on about the other Imperial ships but I typed far too much than should be legally allowed already. In short, the other TIES serve their purpose but I don't use them at Ace level. For me its TIE Advanced/Tie Interceptor and if I want to fly around with no shields for sheer comedial value, my trusty TIE/int with no shields, decent armour, decent engine, decent gun. [I have had a few kills pvp wise in that. I called it the 'TrueTIEdie' ].

So in summary, I prefer Alliance because of the whole under dog thing and because fewer Alliance pilots fly overt or in DS [ at least on my server].

I guess it depends on your flying style. I prefer fast and flippy over slow and sluggish.

Flying the Xwing is pure brilliance but theres still that feeling of flying for the empire in TIE's that you cant beat. Xwing is better all rounder as it should be, Ywing is the workhorse and Awing personally is pretty horrible. TIE interceptor just feels like raw speed, and the advanced and higher TIE's somehow dont capture the feel of star wars flight.

For pure movie immersion it has to be alliance.

For that evil side of you, you cant beat flying a TIE.

actually.

I havn't by any means perfected it so I'm not saying its fullproof but I have dodged image recs from two guys in pvp now.

I have the witnesses Norram and Hostile on Bria [they were the guys who fired them ].

It was in an A-wing combinging a short boost, some real lucky timing engine ol 4 and an engine with 72 r,p,y.

I'm sure its doable, but unnaturally hard to perfect hence the reason I havn't perfected it yet.

I've heard of a few other pilots who have claimed to have done it, but I got witnesses.

Also..it might have had somthing to do with the lag generated by the ISD which was off at me at the time and possibly they may have crashed into it, however as Norram and I both saw it, the original salvo of 3 missed at first, then I actually thought he got two other sets off at me, however he claims he didn't fire anymore so I'm figuring the original three may have regained lock?

I really am not sure. It was very heat of the moment but the facts are..he fired missiles, i wasn't carrying chaff, they missed, gave me a heart attack. I survived.

I call out to all A-wing/fast manouverable ship pilots to try this out and see if anyone can even begin to refine it.

My intention is to try it out with people in my sqdrn in duels and see if I can fraps it for further analysis.

If you don't believe me, ask the witnesses. I wouldn't ever do any of my fellow pilots a disservice by lying to them.

I like my ships big and heavy and, mp ships excluded, they don't get bigger and heavier then the B-Wing.

So rebel for me.
