Has it been RE'd? If not, then that is the start of a pretty decent lvl6 weapon. Energy per shot and refire need to go down, but that is on the high side of damage for a lvl6 weapon. It is almost as much max damage as most player made guns (that I have seen) and more min damage, plus the modifer to shields and armor is better. Unless you have some really awesome guns other than this one, I see no reason why you wouldn't use it....but keep your eyes open for some more nice lvl6 guns to RE it with and you could use it up into tier 4

(I use a nice little lvl6 RE'd gun in my x-wing as a 3rd weapon....nice low mass....and I am a master pilot).

It is a very good start to a quality RE job, or it is a decent enough RE'd blaster.

Either way, whether it is worth using or not is based a lot on the rest of your load out - ship type, for starters, so we know how many Weapon slots you have to fiddle with and how much mass you're looking to use.

If you're going to make me guess (which I'm getting better at doing, by the way)....

Imp: Intercepter - You're looking for the single highest weapon you can fit into your chassis. Adding WO3 (by you or from a higher level friend) should be a priority, as it should be for everyone.

Reb: X-Wing - You're looking to balance multiple weapons against the drain on your reactor and your capacitor. Droid programs help immensely in both cases, so make friends with high level Freelancers and Imperials (as much as it hurts).

Free: Duneliz - A couple of whatever you can use in the shell of a decent fighter and you should be set. The droid commands are icing. Kimo - Going the 'heavy' approach means you should be trying to get the most out of your weapon slots, since your turning won't be what saves you.

L6s can get as high as 2800+ post-RE. I have one.

It's a royal b*tch picking and choosing, though. There are ten categories on a weapon (nine if you consider armor/hp as a single category), so unless you seriously luck out, you might have to make some sacrifices in the long run.

Only shipwrights can RE, right? or can they make the tools to RE for us?

They make the tools, and they have the skill to use them.

fwiw, a L6 RE'd gun is pound for pound the best weapon in the game. It's easy to get the mass well under 10k, and the damage well over 2500 max. When it comes to a pure mass/effectiveness ratio nothing beats these guns. Others do more damage, are faster, etc, but when you need the maximum punch in the least tonnage, this is the gun.
