Okay, I watched A New Hope and was quite sure that I noticed Han fire the cannons of the Falcon from the cockpit of his ship. Then I watched the Empire Strikes Back and saw him use those emergency cannons to fry the stormtroopers...
And I came up with a thought that could work for firing cockpit mounted cannons in POB ships.
Before I begin, forgive me if this idea has been mentioned. I only bring this up because I like to use my YT-1300 and although I enjoy having a crew, I cannot always have one on the go...
A craftable ordinance cannon. This cannon is an actual ship cannon but is described as being an ordinance. It fits only in Ordinance slots and therefore It can be fired by the pilot. (Pilots can fire missiles I hear anyway). To make it more Multiplayer based though, create a new droid command called "Link Capacitor". This command links the power of the capacitor to the cockpit and the power remains linked until it is either:
a) Reset by the co-pilot
b) Ship lands
c) Ship is destroyed.
This cannon could be a POB ship component only, and only one can be installed at a time. Naturally it would do pretty decent or moderate damage.
What do you people think?

How about a droid comand from the Master Boxthat fire links your turrets to the pilot's target. Thus turning your MP ship into a floating one man gunboats

That would be cool... but the idea of Defensive fire could get annoying. I would just like to see you be able to link the capacitor and fire those cannons manually from the cockpit... that could work as well.

i like the idea. make it a really big gun that mounts in an missile slot. it should be an elite weapon so the mass is too high for fighters. make it stronger than the normal elite POB weapons, and in the description they could say that the guns were designed for large starships, and are too big to mount in a small transport's turret.

The only reason Han can fire any cannons from the cockpit is because the Falcon's been modified a ton.

I propose that a Master Smuggler / Master Freelance Pilot be able to do the same mods to their YT-1300's
Han could control all of the systems from the bridge and a maintenance stationbecause he routed all commands through this really powerful computer. We should be able to too.

This is a roleplaying game. Just because Han Solo did something to his ship doesn't mean we cannot do the same. I agree with ShrekECPI, we should be able to link our cannons and actually be able to USE our ships in any way we want... after all we pay good money for them.
Canon is not really a good excuse in my opinion. After all, and I am not dissing Jedi, if there can be that many Jedi wandering around, or dozens of JSF, ARC, and Grevious Fighter ships flying around in space... surely we should be able to stray from the Canon a little in this perspective.
If you check out Wikipedia's Description of the Unmodified stock version of the YT-1300 Transport at:
Stock YT-1300
They state that it comes with ONE quad laser cannon turret and a retractable Light Laser cannon. Technically, the game has already gone above and beyond the basic YT-1300 by adding a second gun turret to the bottom of the craft, they might as well have added a light cannon fireable by the pilot.

id rather have DEs able to make aimbot modules for our R-droids with accuracy experimentable
