Thread: Tomorainer, your attention please...
And people pay for it hours afterward as the zone refills.
Altering the Vette flightpaths to not intersect the ISD would be a winning move too.

I'm for making the ISD indestructible simply because people wanting to feel like Gods end up emptying the goddamned zone of spawns (Rebel AND Imperial) when they light it up.

good idea. ![]()
i'm for them actually fixing the bug.
i'd have a hell of a time chiding imp after imp to forgo productivity and kill off every vette for the sake of the zone spawn if you had your way. DS would be worse than it is now, 10 hours after server up it would be nothing but 30 odd vettes floating around with gun5 missing. no boats. no novas, no escorts. yeah that sounds like a lot of fun cleaning up. 12km between 100/100/94/100 vettes for 40 minutes just to get a nice gunboat line. hah. no thanks.

Right - invincible ISD is not a solution. For one it lets us delag the zone when necessary. It also serves as a nice big magnet so I know where to find easy rebel targets.
That this has been broken as long and as severely as it is should be a point of major embarassment to SOE. If only more folks were up there to appreciate the situation.

Why leave the vettes like that, they go down faster than gunboats really. Guess some people are so lazy they dont kill them because they wont drop any loot. And i would prefer the ISD to stay the way it is, its the only current way to de-lag DS when its full of crap.
it's all about efficiency. two types of people go into DS, people who just want to shoot stuff while they wait for PVP and people who want loot/money/faction while they wait for PVP (i'm giving people the benefit of the doubt about the PVP part).
if you havea ship that can take out a vette faster than gunboats then you are sacrificing efficiency in the zone. maybe only a bit of it, but still you are, because gunboats give loot and much more faction, you really want to be more efficient vs them. even if you are equally efficient vs both, (a sight to see imo) you still are wasting time on the vette if FP/loot is your aim.
so what's the most efficient way to get all that? pull off the vettes escorts, waste them, move on to novas and gunboats and their escorts. if you only have say, an hour to spend up there it's the most efficient way. of course 80% of people aren't going to think twice that it's going to be screwing the zone up for people later. people don't work that way. that's partially the reason we have reset buttons, i would assume. the whole zone is meant to be a money lure, and when you have a money lure efficiency is gonna be the # one thing on peoples minds. why there are even vettes at all is a pretty good question, i assume the only reason is for the efficiency hit, but ahhh maybe that's going too far.
incidentally people who just go up for PVP should also love reset buttons. you reset the zone, stay within 5km of the button and you'll notice your PVP frequency quadruple over time. think about it, i'm on /WHO 90% of the time i'm in DS. i also constantly check /WHO so i know when people come into the zone and it happens quite a bit. you know, you'll hit your /WHO macro see someone and then hit it again 2 seconds later and they'll be gone.
you know some of them checked for you but either were looking to cheese some NPCs alone, there to repair, or were just too lazy to look around for you. well say you keep the zone relatively lag free (increasing detection range) and are blockading your opposing faction base. someone comes in to repair. what happens more often, they just hyper away despite you staring them down 3km away? or do they figure "ah what the hell either way i repair, i'll have a go at him."? in my experience, it's the latter and half of them just gotta have revenge. ![]()
no, if we want to get rid of the ability to reset the zone we also need to totally rethink the reason the zone is there and toss out the whole money lure philosophy behind it. i'd love to see that happen, imagine a lure other than cash to go to DS? maybe if it was actually fun and challenging PVE as well as cash? maybe something else entirely? ahhh but we all know thats a long ways off, if at all, so yeah, let's just let them fix the rebel base first and worry about a supposed efficiency hit later.

QFE... all the green laser fire makes pin pointing the rebel really easy

It's been indestructable since before ROTW went live actually..but yes, if they can do that, might as well make the ISD indestructable as well.
and have no way to reset lag in DS no thx

*shrug*
I was in DS last night and nobody was there. As for lag, it was almost non-existant..but maybe I should've lured some fighters in to test it.

Yeah, this has been a problem since the CU code hit the servers. Part of the same bug that messed up the Vettes for a few days, if you'll remember, but when they fixed that they overlooked or weren't able to fix the Freedom Station as well.
I really dunno when a fix might come for this. I mention it now and then, but haven't ever gotten a timeframe or anything. I'll see about bringing it up again here.

Thanks for the response buddy! Just try to light a fire every now and then to be sure people remember... lol!
