Greetings,
I am a freelance pilot with the smugglers alliance on Starsider and I am just passing the 2/2/2/2 tier, but I have an issue. The NPC has given me the task of meeting with Jabba for my next mission. When I approached the front door, I was asked by the NPC to go kill tusken raiders in order to appease him. I went and checked the FAQ on this and apparently it's a known issue. I was supposed to get another quest where I received an ID chip as a pass into Jabba's Palace. How long has this bug been known and is the ONLY way around it seriously re-rolling the pilot skills? I spent quite a bit of spare time getting up this far only to hit a brick wall with the start of the Jabba quests.
A friend said I should try to switch squads, but it seems freelance pilots aren't "factional" per-se so I don't have the option to resign. I went to the CorSec recruiter and all he gives me is duty missions, nothing else.
I contacted a CSR about the problem as well, what I got was a canned bug report response. Nothing about faction changing, no suggestions, no nothing.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Fly to the Tatooine space station and see if you get the quest that gives you access to Jabba's Palace.

This isn't a bug, actually.
You can only do the mission from the Tatooine space station while working for Lady Valarian. Effectively, once you finish the 4th box of the 2nd tier, you are -done- working for Lady Valarian... thus making the transition from Valarian to Jabba through Karrde.
So there arethree options to get into Jabbas:
1. Reroll your pilot. If you've got the time, it doesn't take long to get back to where you were. Just make sure you do the mission once you get hired on by Lady V.
2. Have a lower-ranked pilot do it for you who already has access to Jabbas Palace.
3. Just complete Jabba's Themepark up to the point where you can get entry into the throne room.

I do see the work chat options, but when I click the option it goes blank then I see the text to the effect of "we don't give you jobs". In otherwords, I was not given the options for a mission from the space station.

1.I seriously am not going to pay for a game that I have to re-grind in order to get around a bug that has been known for a while.
2. How does that work? Are you suggesting I have a higher ranked privateer teach me the skill boxes?
3. Out of the question, it'll take me months to get to the combat level required for slaying tusken raiders. That's what the guy at the door is asking me to do, totally absurd.

You can also do a quest from the Tatooine Space station I believe. BUT you cannot do it if you progress past 2/2/2/2 in pilot. I forget the details so anyone else want to give some input here?
PS you cannot change space factions. You can only drop all your pilot skills and start over by joining a different faction.

It'sMUCH easierthe second time, I did it. TIP: Get a Dunelizard, put the best components you can fit into it. Load your droid, fly into space, make sure your droid programs are working. Land. Don't touch the configuration! Go to Gil Burton in the Hotel in Bestine, Tatooine and resign. Go back to the guy that starts SA in Eisley and restart. Finish the Novice box in your Scyk and as soon as you can train, train in fighters so that you get the Dunelizard certification. You'll be able to fly it with the higher level components in it and it will make the regrind much easier. Component certifications are to install, not to use. This is how I did it and it was very tolerable. Unfortunately, one of Beissa's missions was bugged for me after my second grind all the way through SA tier 2, I dropped and started over in CorSec and have not regretted it.
2. How does that work? Are you suggesting I have a higher ranked privateer teach me the skill boxes?
Find a Smuggler's Alliance pilot that is still tier 2 and eligible for the quest, but also already has access to Jabba's throne room, probably through doing the theme park. Help them do the quest and have them give you the ID badge thingy.

Yeah, I was level 9 or maybe 19 I think when this happened to me. The tuskens almost finished loading on my screen before I died. I recommend just regrinding pilot. It's a total PITA, but worth it. You'll have all but forgotten about it by the time you hit tier 4.

It's not a bug. It's something that the design team thought about and implemented a system whereby you could get in to the palace. Some warning would have been nice, granted, before locking out that option. But with that attitude of not wanting to pay for a game that's kinda buggy/broken, you probably aren't going to stick around for a long time. I hope I'm wrong tho.2. How does that work? Are you suggesting I have a higher ranked privateer teach me the skill boxes?
That can't happen. Players can't teach other players pilot skills. They can, however, give you the ID pass they get from the quest.3. Get in to a grind group, you'll get to level 30ish within a day or two. Besides, you'll get some neat stuff from the themepark. It will certainly not take you months to get to CL30.

Just a suggestion here, since I've not tried it fully, but when I created an alt account and did the neutral clone armour quest, I was able to get into Jabbas palace to complete that quest. My alt was not a pilot, so it might not work, but wouldn't it be worth getting a higher CL to come with you for the first parts of the clone armour quest up until you get access to Jabba's throne room, then just not finish the quest until after Tier 3?
Has anyone tried this?

I actually loved this part of the mission as it gave it some Star Wars flavor. I simply got some faction so I could go in. I'm a freelance Smuggler's Alliance pilot also -- now 4 4 3 3 and just got the Vaksai.
Anyway -- it's not a bug, but it could be a pain to someone who just wants to fly.
Thanks
