Thread: longprobe more menueverable then regular ywing?
From the Pilot FAQ:
# (Tier 1) Y-Wing
[Spdx 0.85 Acc 15 Dec 25 Pitch 80 Yaw 80 Roll 40]
# (Tier 2) Y-Wing LP
[Spdx 0.85 Acc 10 Dec 20 Pitch 70 Yaw 70 Roll 35]
Ywing ~ 140K mass
Ywing LP ~ 160K mass
These numbers are probably off, but the LP does have more mass.

Yeah, close. The Longprobes I've flown and built have been around 170 - 180k mass.
It's really not a bad ship at all. It's not as sluggish as the B-Wing, nor as maneuverable as the X-Wing, but it's a super easy ship to loadout with top-end stuff. You can fit some level 10 gear on it fairly easily with a decent RE job.
But, in regards to the actual question, the standard Y-Wing does handle slightly better than the Longprobe. Not really enough to make a noticable difference for the pilot, though.

the LP is also very capable of bring alot of hurt to bare on a target with dual ordnace launchers. lets just say when i did the heavy Xwing quest 4 spacebombs came in handy. gun 5 didnt stand a chance against me as 1 bomb and one volley from the guns did the job.
Just as an aside, and to continue a personal crusade...
MK2 space bomb launchers weigh roughly the same as an MK4 launcher. The bombs themselves do twice the damage of an MK4 proton. But MK4 protons have as many as three times the number of shots as a space bomb launcher.
Coincidentally, an MK2 space bomb does approximately twice as much damage as necessary to take out a component on a Corvette. IE, a single MK4 proton will nuke an entire component. A lot of times, an MK3 proton will as well.
Following that reasoning, in my opinion space bombs are particularly worthless overkill. They're more expensive, have fewer shots, and do far more damage than necessary to get the job done.
For missiles in general PvE, a single gun easily out-damages a missile. A 24k max damage space bomb, for instance, will produce about 1700 DPS (factoring effectiveness vs shields and armor, and lock/refire time). My worst Level 8 reverse engineered gun does 5000 DPS vs shields and armor.
