A post for flipfloppers like me who just cant seem to stick to any one side for very long, or at the least find themselves constantly split between the two. The criteria ive selected generally seems to be what i find looking at the most since acutally mastering any pilot tree is just going through the standard motions. Escort, delivery, destroy. So, not much to compare there really.

Specials:
- Imperial:
Only one i ever used, was bomberstrike. And even that i seldom used. Most of the specials are overridden by overloads. So you never really use them at all.

- Rebel:
Only one i ever used was IFF. Which isn't saying much. Although in PvP, rebels have a big advantage with /vrepair. You can never disable a rebel and expect him to stay put.
Inspace repair and replensihment i never used -Overloads would be reset. Hence, like imperial pilots, you never really use it. Same thing for emergency shields. WHen i was a newbie, i used it constnatly, however i also wasnt running droid commands at the time either. (didn't know any better)

Overall specials boil down to IFF vs a seldonly used bomberstrike. Seriously, once you make ace, how often do you use /bstrike? At least for me, it was next to never.

Droid Commands:
No comparision. Seriously, who uses rebel shield commands? With the advent of CTSS, rebel droid commands are totally unneccessary. Dont even know why i mention this at all, its not like you cant get someone to burn you a chip no matter what professon you are.

Ships:
-Rebel:
You have lots of choices in ships. Each one is unique inside and out. They never really lose usefullness, and are never truly obsolete. You probably have the widest variety of ship selection in the game, yet the irony your selection is somewhat limited. Once you make ace you probably find yourself using just an Xwing for PvE and an A wing for PvP, and not much else unless your running a ROTW fighter on the side. At leasts thats how it is with me anyway, YMMV.

-Imperial:
On paper you have ALOT of ships to choose from, in reality (not counting ROTW ships) you have like..... 3 ships total. The T/I, the T/A, and the T/O. Hell, maybe we can boil this down to just two ships. A T/I OR T/A for PvP (my vote is for the interceptor) and the T/O for just about everything. The Tie/Light duty, T/F, T/Ln are all subset ships and each one makes the previous obsolete. The Tie bomber is made obsolecent by the oppressor, and the aggressors one forward gunmount makes it less than desireable in my book. Its good for having someone mooch XP of you, but thats about it. The rear turret is rather limited. If you count ROTW ships you ahve the heavy tie, T/I or T/A and the oppressor.

All that said, the sound of laser bolts missing you is a common sound in a Tie, and you have a wider variety to choose from in PvP then the rebel pilot. Overall, i think the Imperials have the upper hand with ships- despite most of them being obsolete. Espeically if you count the Vette busting, A wing vaping oppressor. It has my vote as being THE best ship in the game. yes, even better then a krayt. However i should note as rebel or imperial, eventually found myself using two primary ships One for PvP, one for PvE. With the expection being as a rebel i would shy away from using my PvE ship (Xwing) in PvP, however as an imperial i woudlnt hesitate to use my PvE ship (oppressor) in PvP.

Character:
- Rebel:
Texture and paint kits galore. By far rebels have the most customizeable ships in apperance and it adds to the character of the profession somewhat. I dunno about everyone else, but i really dislike those blaze orange flight suits (that come without helmet i might add). The Ace helmet i like, although i know alot of ppl don't because its not the one in the movies. Lets not forget the Astromechs too. Those definatly add character to any rebel ship that can equip them. Oh ya, and different engines alter your ships appearance too. Overall you have good flavor and the best customization options open to you. All that said, i never felt like i was in the Alliance Navy as a rebel pilot. Dunno why, i just found it hard to feel like i was part of a larger effort. Maybe it's the lack of uniformity? I always felt detached.

- Imperial:
No paint jobs for joo! Imperial pilot the exact opposite of rebel pilot. Uniformity is the operative word here. No paint jobs, not textures, not even a change in engine apprearances. All that said, i think its because of the forced uniformity, that i personnaly felt like i was part of the Imperial Navy. I also think the flight suits are the coolest and much closer to star wars in character.

Missions:

-Rebel:
By far the rebels have the best mission selection post ace: Teir 4 destroy mission that spawns ties, and a black sun duty mission that arguablly has the largest cash payout that i remember seeing in a duty mission.

-Imperial:
Imps got the muddy end of a short stick here. All three squadrons destroy missions spawn nondiscrpt, you never heard of them before, pirates. Two missions spawn hutt ships. Primarly sycks which can get annoying, and only one spawns black sun style ships. Cash payout is average, nothing is outstanding. You have no destroy mission that spawns rebel ships, nor do you have black sun duty mission at all.

FP farming:

- Rebels:
Have plenty of FP farming opporunties all over the galaxy. You have serveral places you can kill teir 4 ties, and you have a destroy duty mission that spawns waves after waves of teir 4 ties. At 30 FP a kill, which on the average take about 2 seconds each, you can rack in the FP fast. You also have deep space an kessel.

-Imperial:
Again, crappy stick here. Theres only one static spawn in normal space that i can think of that has teir 4 reble ships. (neb B frigate outside of endor station) You have no destroy mission to choose from unless you count the mission out of rori station which spawns teir 3's. You do have an escort mission from the inquisition that spawns rebel ships, but the FP yeild is so slow as to be not worthwhile. Given kessels spotty spawn, ultimatly if you want to FP farm as an imp, your funneled into Deep space.

Out of time, thats all i got i guess.
