Ok, so i bought SWG 2 weeks ago and love space, i spend virtually all of my time either travelling around the main worlds (usually trying to find furniture or ship vendors to stock up..sold me BARC hehe) or out in the galaxy flying.
I've tried ground combat for both ranged and melee and find both to be very boring. I came from WoW where combat is pretty intense and much more 'twitch' oriented for an MMORPG and i find the 2 or maybe 3 special attacks in SWG to be very boring and gets repetitive often.
So, saying that, should i stick with combat on the ground as i would like to see some of the more exotic worlds, or are they not really worth it and i should try to go the crafter route, either shipwright or architect. I'm not going to buy a second account just to play the game, i have always hated that necessity in MMORPG and won't cave to it, so both adventure/crafter isn't an option for me.

In my opinion, you are REALLY missing out if you arent good atcombat on the ground. I know the specials are boring, but if you cant kill anything then you cant do any quests and high lvl mobs... Your also missing out on pvp... Don't get me wrong, I love space...but it old after a while. It's definently worth mastering though. Anyway, just my opinion...

Have you tried crafting? There is a whole different world than an other mmo out there in the crafting field.
As for combat, it gets better the higher you go. One must learn the basics before one gets many fancy new specials.

Try two things...join a guild and try to be a combo combat/crafter. I would recommend Shipwright (goes with Pilot) and either smuggler or pistooleer. That way you're a pilot. Pilots in RL don't use rifles. Some Helo guys use carbs but almost all have a 9mm on the leg. Smuggler goes with SW. You should be able to create a space based char would dabbles on the ground. Be aware that you will have to group to be effective on the ground and guilds help with that. Spend your remaning points in merchant

well you do have a few options. First off though ground can be extremely fun. However to PVP you need to be all combat. To just PVE you can get away with mastering one combat and one crafter if you want BUt youd need a good group to do the hard stuff. Craftign can get pretty boring as theres only so much you can craft, (i have a crafter and a jedi). the ground is totally different from space and id say you need to play at least some ground to have fun. crafting is expensive when you start you have to buy resources or harvestors and then you ened tapes to get to +12 its complicated at first but its tons of fun IMO

I appreciate the suggestions guys. One other though, ok, i understand and totally agree that you should be higher up to get the super cool special moves, that is fine by me, but does the "grind" feel of it lessen? I know space can feel like a grind, but it's fun because of the twitch based element of it, every fight is slightly different for me (3333 SA right now, we'll see if that changes). If the higher up ground game is basically the same grind feel but more special moves, i don't think i'd be interested in it.
I am curious about crafter, i've been reading the shipwright boards, but should i go up to ace pilot first so i can get my mining ship? or should i use some of the 4.8Mil credits i have from my BARC to buy a house and resources to work on shipwright?
Thanks for the responses, i appreciate it heavily, I'm still not sure about the game as a whole and i'll be beta testing a new mmo soon, so my time might be limited, gotta be sure i want to stick with this for a while.
