greetings all I was hoping you could give a noobie some advice. I just bought the expansion today and so far I am loving it (love the twitch aspect, if they only made ground PVP twitch i would be in heaven).

I am starting out with a Z-95 i believe (rebel noob ship), and wondering if I should upgrade i have a small bankroll of about 350k, so I am not that rich. I would really like some new blasters but not sure if its even worth it.

so My question is what should i Upgrade if anything or should i just get to the next level ships?

well you can't say SoE is just in it for the money, because if they were they would open up classic servers and double thier income.

I didn't think much of the Y-Wing the first time due to it's poor turning, you can wait for the Longprobe at 2111 easily enough.

First read the pilot guide stickyed to the top of the pilots forum for some real good advice.

2nd aquire a heavy varient of the z-95, it realy is the first and last ship you ever need. Expect to pay 100k-200k for it as it involves astroid minerals to build.

3rd your prototype components are fine untill you start finding good loot to RE and use. All you need to make existing components is an astro droid (of appropriate version) loaded with Reactor overload (OL), capacitor OL,Engine OL, Weapon OL, and cap to shield shunt. I never fly story missions without it. I will do tier 1 duty missions for days, if need be,in order to afford a version 1 droid and program chips. Thats how important the droid is.

4th You want to use player made capacitors, armorand engines. Collect and RE weapons, droid interfaces, and boosters. Later on down the road you will have to start making sacrifices, like dropping armor and boosters, for the sake of mass to fit in engines, shields and weapons. I'm sure you will figure that out.

Pretty new to SWG and pilot myself.

just made 2211 and got my Ywing LP it rocks!!

The stickys really do help just read closely. I missed that the reg Ywing even thou you can load 2 weapons really doesn't allow YOU to fire 2 weapons. The LP one does thou.

I would get the heavy Z95 as soon as ya can since the start ship wasn't that great and you cant load looted stuff into them or at least i couldn't. i may had been doing it wrong don't know.

cost wish look up on the market i got my chassis prints for the Z95 heavy for 20k and think it was only 15k to have it made at the npc. i been running on looted items for a while and just upgraded when i found some thing better.

on my new LP i got me 2 player made blasters they rock!! and a player made engine also i love it. Prices seem pretty decent on eclipse server at least.

even just selling loot IM able to stay ahead of cost as i go.

Anyway GL to ya and hope this helps

always upgrade wepons and shields when you can if you can get a hold of reversed engineered stuff from a shipwright the better. also use droid commands get capacitor, engine, wepon and reactor over charge commands and up grade them as nessassary they can help you alot. to getas rebel you'll get the shield ones but fre the frelance and imp one make friends with players of those factions and get them to burn those commands for ya or look around some times you can find the driod command chips on peoples vendors

just forget about the time line it nolonger exits her hasn't for some time. we're in a virtual star wars universe and it our time line not the movies. so its what we make of this universe ourselves. once this is realized then you'll start having fun

This would be ideal, but on some servers the Heavy variants can cost 250k-500k, which is more than he can afford.

If this is the case on your server, don't feel bad about using whatever normal chassis you get certed for. Fortunetly rebel ships start out pretty heavy so you can probably afford to outfit them with a combination of cheap player made parts and un-RE'd loot and still have no problem completing your missions.

If I where you id REALLY try to ignore the heavy z95 if at all possible!

Wait for the Ywing LP(the 1 seater), you can pack it with a load of stuff when you reach 2xx2, especially when you hit 2223! Itll teach you how to dogfight very well in such a slow pondering brick. When you pick up the Xwing itll fly like a dream.

Then the Awing, itll teach you how to manage your mass and systems and use manouverability to win rather than firepower.

Then by all means switch to the nubships if you wish, you will have acquired some skills that other nubships drivers wont HAVE to learn on their way up and this will make you a better pilot. Which isnt a bad thing.

I have finally returned to my old Xwing (crafted by myself a week into JTL) and love flying it, it really is the best ride for this SW geek!

Final tip, always go fro better components, not the next ship, it makes things easier, personally, I couldnt resist myself but thats just me, style over substance anytime.

thank you all for the advice, I may check out what the going rate of a Heavy Z95 on my server is. Can't wait to check out all the other cool ships.

what serve are you? If it's bria..expect to be paying around 300k for a heavy variant o.o

Personally, I'm old skool and suggest the pre-rotw ships to try while you learn because they'll teach you more..trust me. However, if flying is a secondary profesison to you, sure try the heavy-95. They aren't bad ships.
