Thread: Could use some tactical help
I did this mission many moons ago, in your basic Xwing, sans overloads, and no shield shunt. That's not gloating, just letting you know where I'm coming from on this. It is beatable.
This is the first big face off with a TIE aggressor. The way I won was to go after him and ignore his cohort.
There are two ways to take out an Aggie, and I prefer the unpopular way. Chasing him, and not letting him rattle me. I'll recommend to you that going to Endor and playing with some of the tier4 aggies there is good practice for this mission, even though I didn't do that until much later in my career. Learn how to follow him, take careful aim, and remain steady even in the face of turret fire. You can quickly knock out the turret if you remain calm. And your CtSS will make life even simpler for you. You can learn how to slide around behind the Aggie, and this keeps the turret from getting in solid hits, while you still score shots. Practice in Endor will also teach you how to time your shunt, and how to slide underneath the aggie so his turret cant hit you.
Really the larger threat in this mission are the other TIEs blowing up your tail section after you succeed in killing the boss, but if you kill him, mission siccess is yours, and you can IFF and run to the next leg.
Post again of you want any specifics, and I can elaborate.
I complete this mission last nite, I would like to thank both piskobunny and kryxal for your post.
I would say that I made a common mistake as a newer pilot, although I had been using droid commands given out to rebel pilot I found being able to shift shield power from front to back and back to front useful from time to time , never did consider them very effective in most cases.. there for I never did pick up the other ones available tome fromthe imp and privateer factions.
Boy was this ahuge mistake, So on your advise I pick upEO3, RO3, CO3, CTSS.loaded them up and did the mission again. I defeated him easily on the first try.
My only question now iswhy I waited so long tostart using them even thou I was aware of them and read many post on the subject and two why are the rebel commands so worthlesscompared to the other factions commands.

actually the only privateer one that was worth a crap when JTLS launched was reactor overload... the cap overload and cap to ss were both added later.
the rebel programs that adjust your shield fore and aft do have their uses... just very situational.
