Thread: Imp ships: Interceptor or Bomber

Hello all,
I am a 3322 Imp Pilot. I have been getting my clock cleaned in the tier 3 mission and have been stuck on it forver! Would I be better off switching to the logwagon Bomber and going for Tank Status?
My Interceptor lasts about 2 seconds in combat with a multi-weaponed ship.

Sure, give it a try! The TIE Bomber works well - I used it from tier 3 until Ace...for PVE it works very well; just those darn A-wings are a bit of a challenge. Good Luck!

My suggestion is to get an engine with YPR 60+, as decent speed as you can get, start using droid chip programs, and a fast firing weapon. Once I made these changes to my Interceptor those missions became 100x easier.

A lot of these missions require grouping 
So sometimes the ship MAY help but there is always greater safety in numbers.

I flew tier 3 in a TIE/IN, switching to an Interceptor for tier 4. With droid programs running and the right gear (get a crafted level 7 shield with 1800ish strength and get cap to shield shuntand reactor overload programs from a privateer) and running engine overload and weapon overload it can stand up to most stuff. Staying at max speed, evading, and boosting when strafing a multi weapon ship is a must though, don't slow down and try to shoot it out.

im 4434 at the moment and im in the tie bomber. i just cant stand loseing my super heavy super powerful guns. cant beat the mass on the bomber...

I went interceptor only the first time through, my second time I used the bomber. I have to say the bomber is by far the best PvE Ship the imperials have prior to the Oppressor. (And is possibly better in a PvE role only)
The most important thing is the 2 forward firing guns + mass to use them. The bomber clocks in at 190k mass and that allows you to mount some serious shields, engines and blasters. The interceptor doesn't have the mass and doesn't have an extra weapon slot. The aggressor only has 1 forward firing gun. The advanced has 2 forward firing guns but barely enough mass to use 2 weapons, let alone 2 good GREAT weapons.
Go bomber and enjoy that extra protection.

Hey Croll,
I see you advised him to get a engine with YPR 60+, please correct ,e if i am wrong but i believe YPR caps on 50 with a bomber.

I still use an interceptor I love the ship but like was mentioned earlier you need her right gear to use it and you cant attack mutli gun ships in the same eay you would with a heavier ship.
Attack from below and on the oblique not dead to the stern and when you get any return fire break off awy from the target and repeat.
