Thread: Do you lose all of your prestige points if you switch to another pilot faction?

I'd like to go Privateer (and Imperial) to try out the other ships, but I worry about losing my 25 million Rebel Pilot Prestige points in case they ever become useful. Do you lose all of the prestige points when you switch factions? Thanks!

Yeah, you do lose it. I was wondering the same thing when I was about to drop privateer, as it occurred to me that, if you kept your prestige, you could bank up a nice supply as a Reb or Imp and then if you went privateer you could still go overt to Deep Space. But no such luck--when I dropped master privateer, all my prestige points went with it.

Well, I guess I won't be switching factions, anytime soon. Imagine what people who've saved up over 200 million prestige are thinking? hehehe.

I've dumped about 140 mill prestige total... but seriously, so what?
It's not like it's useful for anything....

Yeah, you'll lose it all (and EXP too), but you can make prestige easily. You can probably make about 14 million in a week or so...

It's just that I don't get a chance to play around in space as much as I'd like. And a lot of my time is spent harvesting loot for REing Firespray schematics on Tier 1 Hutt spawns. Couple that with the possibility that Prestige Points may one day be useful... Well, it's just difficult to contemplate giving it up.

Well, I've done 4 squadrons now. All 4 were fun to advance through the storyline. Fun enough to be worth 20 million xp though I've dropped only 2 million prestige so far. Getting badges and more importantly the story lines first before I start chasing loot.
On a sidenote: Doing the squadrons also gives you the nice reward items and I've got the feeling those story line missions drop more loot then duty missions or random spawns.

Not only do you lose the prestige, but you also lose all your Starship Combat xp - 'normal' space xp.
So this means you can't fly through tier 1 and 2 in ten minutes flat lol
I wish I could trade in all my excess starship combat xp for FS xp - I hate having useless xp that I can do nothing with
