Well maybe not that newbie but some things I'd like to know.
-Will ships/components ever decay, wether from wear and tear or death? If so, under what circumstances?
-Is there some sort of way to change the colours of the Jedi Starfighter? Or is it just yellow/grey forever?

Wear and tear no. Deaths will cause your components to degrade. Not thier stats just thier armor and hitpoints. Wear and tear ONLY when you use overload IV programs, they cause enough dmg to your component that it degrade a little when you repair it.
Jedi starfighter yes you can change it's color you need a starship paint kit. Maybe even Texture kits. There are 6 different textures.

Looks like my components armour/HP decay every time I repair my ship, not just when I die.
