Tier 3 Storm Squadron missions are looooooooooooooooooong! Figure at least 45 minutes maybe as long as one and a half hours each. The best way to get through them is to find a friend to fly with you.I tried numerous times to solo them, and ended up failing every time. As soon as I got a friend to help we did all of them in an evening.

make sure you get 2322 after the first one and equip your tie/in with a good lvl6/7 gun and a mkIV crafted shield along with a full set of ovreload 3 commands and you should be fine. i had no problems soloing tier3 and 4 of storm squadron.

I wish I could say I have no problems soloing it too..

I'm stuck at Tier 3.3 where you need to fend off 4 waves of Tier 4 A-Wings.. they're too hard to hit.. harder still with the goddamn drunken bee bullcrap that hits me too often..

in a sense, I could solo them all.. my shields and guns and all are powerful.. I'm barely scratched and I'm killing them all.. but thats not what they want me to do with that A-Wing waves =/ sigh..

Most of the time with Tier III, my problem wasn't any mission craft, it would be the one to two tier higher aggro random spawns that the devs so kindly placed right next to mission critical waypoints. Tier IV and V z-95s are some of the hardest things in the game, i think they are actually more manuverable than the a-wings!

I am just curious, which engine is everyone using right now for these missions? At first I just used a49avgYPR,and69 speed engine. Then I found out that the 79Speed/63.2YPR engine was my "reward" engine, and started using that. I now use this engine exclusively, and have to say it was night and day. I had to make some changes to my ship as in dropping chaff/missiles, but it was worth it.I also got lucky and found some low weightarmor (one was only 4k mass for 1122 hp), and then started using WO and EO (started at 2 and moved to 3 when I had it).

That first mission is probably the worst as my Tie/IN was also having problems with those Tier IV/V pirates. After the upgrades I moved through that mission like butter. I could finally match the speed of the A-Wings with Engine Overload, and keep right on their tail for the kills with Weapon Overload. The thing to remember with A-Wings is to aim between the reticle, and the A-Wing. If you aim for the reticle you will almost never hit it unless you are right on it's six. The only beef I had with the Storm Squadron missions was the length of time. I knew going in they were going to be long, but I do not think I spent less than an hour on any mission past Tier 2. Another tip is to move up to the Advanced the first thing you do in Tier 3. It gives you a lot more breathing room, and even if you can only use a puny Tier 1 weapon in your second weapon point it is worth it.

yes the reward engine helps alot. collect other lvl6 engines and get it re'd when you get a chance. dont just re it as soon as you get 5 other lvl6s though, hold out for a low mass, good yaw and pitch, and a low reactor drain so you can run engine overload. i held out for 9300 mass (re'd to 89xx) and another with 1300 reactor drain (now i can run eo4 in my advanced with a mkI crafted reactor thats only 1.1k mass)
