Really, this question is a two-parter. Hope it's not too confusing...
- Okay, right now I've aced Vortex for the Alliance. As I understand it, if I went and tried to ace another (Crimson Phoenix for example) I wouldn't get the EXP bonus... being that a ship that gave me 300 EXP would still give me 300 EXP.
But if I went completely different, say Smuggler's Alliance, then I'd get x2 EXP, which would give me 600 EXP for every normally 300 EXP kill, correct? - Now... say aftering acing Smuggler's Alliance I wanted to go back to Rebel (which I plan to do). Does that mean I'd get a 3x EXP bonus, making a kill that's normally worth 300 EXP worth 900 EXP? Or would I even get an EXP bonus for acing the same faction I had previously?
Probably really dumb questions... but I get confused easily...

You have mastered a pilot profession, so if you were to resign and start another (any other) you would receive the normal experience from a kill as well as a Master Bonus of the same amount, hence twice the experience.
You get a x1 bonus multiplier for the first profession pilot profession from each faction that you master.
Master Vortex: x1
then Havoc: still x1
then CorSec: x2
then RSF: still x2
then Inquisition: x3
So the maximum bonus is x3 the normal experience for a total of 4 times the experience per kill.
That help?

Hmm... okay, so even if I master again within the same faction, I'll still get the bonus?
I asked a similar question on the JtL board a couple weeks ago and I was told you only get the bonus if you master a completely different faction.

The bonus you are getting is a x1 multiplier of the base experience. You are receiving the standard experience and you are also earning a x1 bonus, totalling to twice the experience.
so even if I master again within the same faction, I'll still get the bonus?
I don't understand what you are asking.
If you are attempting to ask your original question all over again, I'll try to answer it again.
You get a Master and resign, you get bonus experience. You Master pilot paths from two different factions (Alliace, Imperial, Freelance) then you get more bonus exp. If you Master pilot paths from all three different factions then you get the most bonus exp.
That any better?

Sorry, I'm really slow. I'm still trying to understand. I'll get this sooner or later. ![]()
So I'm just trying to repeat it to make sure I understand.
If I ace another Alliance squadron, then I do still get the bonus. But if I ace a different class altogether (say, Privateer), then-- if I understand you right-- I'd get a larger bonus?

It seems you have not resigned your original profession or else this would go easier.
When you Master a pilot path, resign, and start a new one (any one) then you receive experience two diffeent times whenever you make a space kill. One of them is the standard experience for the kills - the same experience you have always made. The other one is 'bonus' experience - exp you get because you have previously Mastered one or more pilot paths.
For each Faction (Reb, Imp, Neut) of which you have Mastered a pilot path you receive bonus experience equal to the experiance that the kill always gives.
If you Master one or more Alliance paths, you get a x1 multiplier
If you Master one or more Imperial paths, you get a x1 multiplier
If you Master one or moreFreelance paths, you get a x1 multiplier
Those will stack, so Mastering one Alliance and one Freelance will add to a x2 bonus, above and beyond the base experience for the kill
If you Master one or more from each of the three Factions then you have a bonus worth x3 the normal experience.
Again, you get the normal experience and the bonus exp, so you can get up to four times the total experience per kill by Mastering one pilot path of each Faction.
The pilot path you are currently working on has no impact on anything. It only matters what pilot paths you have Mastered and resigned.

Okay, I think I get it. If not fully, then I'll just give it a try and learn from experience.
And no, I haven't dropped from my first ace yet. I've been debating if I want to and start a new squadron and/or faction or not. I really have nothing left to do after ace, so this would give me something to do.... But yeah... I haven't tried yet.

Why master all 3 if you can't retain the benifits;Besides haveing the title in your examine window? Is there some kind of bonus or advantage to mastering all 3 pilot proffessions besides the exp multiplier?

Nope. It just gives me something to do in space. After spending all those credits for starships, it would be nice to get their use out of it. And this gives me a reason to go up into space.
Plus, atleast for a Smuggler, it's a role playing aspect. Acing Alliance twice and Smuggler's Alliance.
