Thread: Devs: Can we logout in our MP ships please

I'd love to be able to logout in my ship, then log in and still be in my ship, without the current "death and returned to the last starport" situation. Can't go wrong with a bit of extra 'star warsiness' and it would make living in MP ships more viable from a RP perspective

Not sure how to implement it; perhaps if the ship only contains the pilot, it will disappear from space after 20 mins but upon logging in, return straightaway. This wouldn't be possible in Kessel or Deep Space.

Good/Bad idea?

Seems reasonable to me

It would require the servers to keep a constant tab on your location even when you're offline. That would be a waste of resources. Landing and taking off again takes maybe 30-45 seconds from start to finish.

No more than when you log off on a planet. Server would just save wp and gen you there when you logged back in. No biggie

You could stay attackable for 20 mins then disappear; so I don't think the server would need to keep you there permanently cluttering up space. Would make the Sorosub a bit more viable as well, as at the moment I hardly use it because it takes up that all-important lot. A criminal waste of a nice ship; i'm bored of my large corellian house anyway - I'd rather decorate a Sorosub!

/agree - this is a no-brainer in my opinion, let people live in space in the multi-player craft please!

/agree or perhaps have the ability to 'dock' with a space station to logout, that way it would be safer for your ship when you logout or log in

Space uses the whole 3D block, ground only uses the lower fifth/third of that.

As of the last patch, MP ships do not take up a lot any more. Decorate away!

I like this idea. I don't see much reason to decorate my MP ship as I can't stay in it, I have to relaunch anytime I want to use it. If I could log out in it I'd probably do it once in a while.

Definitely add this feature. Sorosuub is an awesome little boat, why not let players use it more? Make the item limit in it higher too or let us craft one with higher item limits.

And heck, have a SoroSuub parked next to a Starport that players can dock at instead of loading the ground game. That way JTL players can just make a quick stop, unload their loot and jump back into space!

The reason this isn't allowed partly gets back to the reason there are set hyperpoints and landing stations. It also has a lot to do with creating and remembering what is essentially a flying house, and the kind of load it would make on a server to have people appearing/disappearing in random locales in space. There are all kinds of little code cheats the game uses on the ground to spread out the load, but in space there isn't really a choice but for the game to try and load you, the environment, your ship, and everything in it all at once.
