Yeah, everything's there, but my energy level is only like 6000/12000 or something...so I guess I need a guide (dont have an instruction booklet as I'm in the uk...) to what the figures/stats etc mean, so i can go and buy stuff that won't be horribly underpowered

Energy level is rarely used up. Most items tend to have a lower energy level even though they have huge mass levels. I think the most energy you can get with a tier5 enhanced reactor is only like 16k, so being at only 6k energy at lower levels isn't a huge issue. Mass is really the key. A few things you must have...

1. Chassis(which type of ship you will be flying, this determines your maximum mass available).

2. Reactor(this determines your maximum energy available).

3. Engine(makes you move ).

4. Weapon(different ships have different weapons configuration options, imps are limited to one projectile(laser) and one missle until tier4 I think).

5. Capacitor(must have this in order to fire your weapons, determines how many times you can fire your weapon in a row(energy for weapons/recharge rate).

Those are pretty much the minimum required but you can also have the following:

1. Booster(temporary increase to max speed).

2. Armor(secondary protection once shields drop).

3. Astromech(droid or computer)

4. Countermeasures(decoy's for missles)

The best looted items tend to be Capacitors and Engines, the rest of the items you will likely want to have crafted, hope this information helps.

Most rebels tend to stay with the X-wing as it has better manuverability plenty of weapon slots and enough mass to make it dangerous to us imps.

One thing about the Y-Wing - it has 2 wepaon slots. One for the pilot one for a gunner.

Are you sure you have the weapon in the correct slot, or a weapon in each?

My apparent ship fault has been corrected....by installing a capacitor...(yes, i am that dumb)

i hated the friggin y-wing when i first got it...

but if you throw some decent parts in it, it goes okay.

put in the best dmg blasters you can (if you're using hte long probe, try ions and blasters for good fun)

throw in a lewted capacitor (get it RE'd if you can...) that has at least 27 recharge rate and around 1000 capacity. more recharge is far more important than high capacity. above 30 recharge will make the y-wing fire just about indefinitately with just one set of blasters.

find a lewted engine with at least 60 to acceleration rates. (the max's are 80, so that's easy to find, higher the acceleration the better, though). top speed of at least 500 (50) is nice. Reverse Engineer for the win!

Get the best shields you can afford for your highest level. don't worry about mass, you wont come anywhere near the cap.

put in some lewted boosters. mine are 1500 energy, 33 recharge, not RE'd. these work great when you want to catch up to an enemy real quick.

those are my tips for the y-wing. it has gotten much more enjoyable with a decent lewt engine, good crafted shields, and good mark3 blasters. (500-1000 work fine, but the higher the better).

I used this setup to level 2222 extremely fast with a group of 3 y-wings in Nyms Hovel. the more friendly craft around, the faster you'll level the XP!

Oh, and control + shift + F2 to get rid of that crappy y-wing cockpit! YAAAY!

hope that helps the guy with the y-wing.

Best component info is actually in the Shipwright forum.

Check it out.
