This dude is telling me that the first month or so of JTL, he looted an "Exceptional" Nubian Elite Engine. It has 111 top speed and 95.5 PYR. He didn't notice it until he went to sell to the chassis dealer, who offered him 100k for it.
Has anyone else heard of exceptionalspace loot?

There were remarkably different stats on items early in JtL, but there is no code for the chassis dealer to offer more money for those items. Your dude is telling a half truth at least, I'd insist on seeing the engine.

There is a Nubian 221 (racing mod) level 10 engine, that usually has pretty good stats. But I've never heard of a Nubian Elite

There are a few terms I use when talking about parts, maybe he picked them up from my thread.
An "Exceptional" part, per my definition, would be a part that exhibits one out-of-the-ordinary or incredible stat.
A "Double-Whammy" is one that exhibits two exceptional stats of varying worth, these only really come into effect when you've got something that takes too few parts to make a great RE - like trying to fit an exceptional Ionic Pulse into a Boltdriver RE requires finding a double-whammy to take over two other stats so you can fit the Ionic. Triples and higher are possible, but the value of doubles is so incredibly small except on a few choice levels that they're not too noteworthy.
Of course, not all double-whammies are exceptional in either stat. If you find, say, a 2895 damage Scorcher 3 L6 that has a drain of 1950.0, that'd qualify. Sure, there ARE lower drains for L6s out there, but 1950.0 is perfectly acceptable if you need to make a sacrifice to fit a better min or better effs.
A "Legendary" part would be like getting the 10,000 credit scratcher ticket when buying one on a whim - something you can pretty much loot and immediately equip because it's that good by default. These aren't exactly...well, POSSIBLE to come by.
There still needs to be some code in the game that tags these items, but that presents another few quandaries:
1) Idiots who live to the "WOO! 'EXCEPTIONAL' MEANS I CAN CHARGE 20 MILLION!" camp.
2) Idiots who go around a safety block at the Bothan and sell the part anyway or delete it if they make the Bothan not buy tagged items.
3) It also makes the Devs have to tweak around with the loot ranges...we don't want that. With their track record, every time they've gone into the loot code, we've seen crappier or MUCH wider-ranged drops.
