Thread: This would make a good-sized Imperial PC-controlled capship:
Details
Has the iconic shape, but it's only 600m long. If the gravity wells worked...well...that'd be griefing, but it'd be AWESOME.

Directly behind it and down and to the left a little bit more is the 900m-long VSD, giving a cross-section that the ship in question is, in fact, even smaller than them.

Heres my attempt, and yes I will use your own information against you.
This frigate-sized special-purpose vessel was the first warship of the Imperial Starfleet to be produced with gravity well generators as standard weaponry. The interdiction fields generated by these ships inhibit or terminate hyperdrive travel for other ships in the vicinity. A tiny and cheap vessel in comparison to most modern warships, the Immobiliser is also under-gunned for its size. Commanders of these ships avoid engagement with significant enemy warships as standard practice. Instead the interdictor will usually remain on the periphery of the battle zone, preventing the hyperjump escape of enemy vessels during coordinated actions with genuine combat ships and starfighter squadrons. Immobilisers are also used in picket and blockade operations, drawing starships from hyperspace for inspection by other naval foreces.

For Imperials, that's the ISD design, and the ship graphic I showed is the smallest vessel that still holds true to that design in canon. Ditch the gravity wells and stick some batteries on there, and you've got yourself a nice little picket ship design that has that "mini-ISD" vibe to it.
For Rebels, obviously something with a bent towards Mon Calamari or CEC design would be more iconic, but the Corvette is already in the game.
For privateers, perhaps the Ye-4 would suffice. It'd fit, as Corsec flies them, and they're about as true-neutral as a faction can get.

I was offering up the hull mostly as a "huh???" thing. If they put in unique capships for factions, they should be emblematic of the faction they represent.

We should all realize that besides the Corvette and the ISD they will make up their own ships anyways.
Out of the thousands of EU and Canon designs they will probably just make up their own crap.
As a rebel, any capital ship under Imperial control is fine for me, I like new ships for target practice ![]()
But seriously, I think a Corvette-sized ISD would be fine, Interdictor/Immobiliser with the gravity well generators would kinda be weird, and could be used for griefing, so thats a no-go. However, a dreadnaught cruiser might work well, as it is about the size of a corvette with just about the same firepower. For you freelancers out there, I'd say something like a Republic assault ship would do nicely. In the screenshots for the upcoming RTS Empire at War, there are many screenshots of the Imperials using Republic Assault Cruisers, so why not the freelancers? I'll repost with a better one for the freelancers once I find it.
But, who among my rebel brethren would also join the Imperial ranks just to fly the Eclipse-class ![]()

Well, the Interdictor HAS no gravity wells. It's based off the Immobiliser, but instead of the wells, it packs firepower.
It was the Enforcer that had no gravity wells because they were pulled out. The Interdicter-Class has gravity wells and suprisingly enough; matches the description of the Immobilizer. /shrug.
