Ok, I finally got to Smugglers Alliance Ace last night, thanks to great group who let me join them.

As soon as I had my shiney helmet it was out with the Firespray which had taken a great deal of time/money/effort to get, reverse engineering thousands of loot items.

And....

Its Pants. Total and utter ladies underwear.

AmI missing something with this apart from the "Oh look at me I have a Firespray" factor?

2guns, 2 missiles, 200k-ish mass. I got 3 guns, a missile and 190kfrom my Rhykkrackerjack which is a far better loadout and can pour the fire on.

Also you have no option but to use cockpit view with the cockpit turned off as you are looking at a wall otherwise.

Can someone please tell me that I am wrong and have missed something here?

Crikey, sir. I'm looking forward to today. Up diddly up, down diddly down, whoops, poop, twiddly dee - decent scrap with the fiendish Red Baron - bit of a jolly old crash landing behind enemy lines - capture, torture, escape, and then back home in time for tea and medals

Nope, they're not very good for neutrals. The only advantage they have over a Krayt is the two missile slots, and let's face it, 9 times out of 10 it's better to have an extra gun.

The extra mass makes them good for Imperials who like the Oppressor, though, and the better maneuverability gives Rebels something of a heavy fighter. So the only reason they're not viable ships for privateers is their comparable ships are already pretty great.

And you didn't mention the convergence issue with the Firespray.

The Firespray has some very good uses, with the ability to carry 2 missiles, its high agility, good engine speed transfer it is a great ship for Vette runs. Being able to pack 2 Mark II spacebomb launchers in addition to having the mass to pack in top of the line shields and armor the Firespray is one of the best ships you can use in PvE. With the droid commands that are available and so well worked RE you can have a serious ship.

You could go with 2 RE'd lvl 10 blasters, or 2 of the RE'd lvl 8 mission reward ones (the later when RE'd well can have very low mass and energy needs with massive damage output) - couple these with a lvl 2 or lvl 6 capacitor with high Energy, Capacitor Overload3 & Shunt To Shield4 and you have some very high damage output.

For shields get those nice Reward ones RE'd or if you can find enough good lvl 10 ones get those RE'd

The rest is choice again I like the Reward booster RE'd and my reward engine, I do have a better one with RPY in the 80's and a top spd of 88 (lvl8 not RE'd) I will use eventually with Engine Overload 3 you have real nice Top Speed, tack on the booster and you have a TS of around 1450 (going from memory).

The Krayt is great for Group play and general Solo stuff the Firespray is a great Vette Killer.

Honestly, i never understood this fetish alot of people have with the Firespray. Such is the demand for this ship, SOE removed it from being the privateer master ship and made it the RIS of space. *shrug* I never understood it, its a big target, its ugly, and it flies funny.

Say what you will but I love my FS. Yes it looks a bit awkward and has a big profile but it also has character.

When I first got mine I wasn't that impressed but I worked hard on making it better by finding the best parts and REing them. The end result being a ship that is a very formidable heavy fighter.

Main Reactor: 14600

*Engine: Lvl 8 106.5 PRY-75

Armor: 1100 f/b

*Shields: Lvl 8 3850 f/r 15.5

*Capacitor: Lvl 6 1081 47.9

Droid Interface: Lvl 10 9.9

*Weapon: Lvl 8 3850 .690 s/a 13.8 e/s .380 refire

Weapon: Lvl 8 3650 .630 s/a 14.1 e/s .420 refire

Ordinance: MkIV Proton Torpedo

Ordinance: MkII Spacebombs

Flight Computer: v6 running RO3, EO3, WCO3, WO3, CtSS4

* = REd

Still working on looting parts to RE the droid interface and second weapon. Some of the numbers are from memory and/or slightly rounded. With that loadout I am using about 201k out of 212k mass. I have an REd Lvl 6booster on there too but I can't remember the stats for it right now. Brings my top speed to just under 1500.

I've gotten very comfortable flying this ship even though it can sometimes be hard to hit small, maneuverable targets due to the lack of convergence. If they ever decide to fix that, look out! With this ship I have soloed the SD and the vette and have had many PvP victories against Ties, FS, and Krayts usually without sustaining any damage past front shields.

As a Rebel pilot I've never flown the Krayt so I don't know how it compares. The FS makes a nice balance between the X-Wing and the B-Wing.

Firespray's really overrated. I tried it out for two weeks then went back to my Oppressor, which has the exact chassis YPRratesas the Firespray with no laser convergence issue and whose lower mass can be easilyovercome by using all RE'ed parts. The only faction that really needs the Firespray for nowis the Rebels since their B-Wing handles like a pig.

As a rebel I'll agree with that. The X-Wing is a nice platform but 100k mass is a tight fit even for really good REd parts. B-Wing has more than enough room, but like you said handles like a pig. So in comparison to the other factions who prefer their Oppressors and Krayts, the FS really is a welcome addition to the Rebel faction. Now should I start whining that the Rebels don't have a ship of their own that compare to the other two factions? I think not.

One thing I must say about it though... is that it is very manuverable... I like the Firespray, and am very dangerous in it.

Firespray character? Bleh...the character of a space-going cockroach maybe.

Personally I can't stand the sight of them and won't fly one. Master privateer really holds nothing for me but use of level 9-10 components.
