I am at the last mission of the group of missions to get the advanced x-wing and i cant even damage it! all help is appreciated

You have to target its components in order to damage it. Make sure you are shooting so you're hitting the component right where the HUD bracket shows it in yellow. Shooting its hull normally will not do anything.

In order to disable it for that mission you need to disable the Shield and Secondary Shields, then you will see you'll be able to target its Engines. After its engines are down you'll go and start the escort part of the mission. Disabling the guns first of course makes it alot easier to target the other componenets.

If you haven't ever done a corvette before it can seem frustrating. A couple of deaths later, and some lessons learned and you'll see corvettes really aren't that difficult to disable.

Load your ship with a Mark III Proton launcher and get a pack of 12 - 14 missles.

It will take 2 missions to take out 1 component. You only need to take out Primany, secondary shields, engine, reactor. The Bridge only takes 1 missle so you only really need 9 missles but I like to have 14 just in case

It's sad that a simple tie fighter with a Mark III proton launcher can take out a captial ship with 9 missles but a beast like a Opressor with 12 space bombs or 36 mark IV proton missles can't take out a single gun ship

Thnx all of you for the input. what finally worked for me was to sit behind those huge thrusters and use mark three proton missiles and blow the sheilds and the engine. i never got hit by the corvette.

Next step is to see if you can take one down just with lasers
