I have jtl, and I quit trying to fly after my tier one mission for killing the ace was buged. I was thinking of going back to space, but mostly because I would like to have a yt-1300. Are ther any advantages to this ship? Is it any good? How many people actually have one? Please keep in mind that when it comes to space I am basically a noob. I already started to look on the forums, the search did not turn up any links that answered my questions. please be kind.

A well outfitted POB can be pretty cool for PvE. That and their all dead sexy.

Do these ships have the ability to be better outfitted than others? can it hold more weapons? Can it be used for both combat and space mining?

yes it can be used for mining and combat. and it can be semi better equipped.

in the sense it has only 2 gun points but 5 mill mass. so you can stick the best parts in there and not worry over mass.

I have the YT. It has 2 guns and 2 missiles. It is designed to be used by multiple players. It has a top gun and a bottom gun that need to be manned by other players. The pilot, basically, just controls the missiles. You need one more player to man the operations console to control the computer commands. The nice thing about POB ships is they have 5 million mass so you can cram alot of stuff into it. For PVE single player the Krayt is a hard ship to beat. It has 3 guns and 1 missile and 190k mass. It also has a top gun that another player can use. I put noob guildies up there to help them level.

Your Krayt has only 190k mass? You should have some serious words with your shipwright, mine has 210k mass. While that's good, i heard it even can be stretched a tiny bit further up still.

My experience with the YT in Deepspace (tier 5 PvE and occational PvP) has been that the YT can be outfitted with the meanest toughest equipment that exist, no other way to pack so much firepower in one ship.

The YT will take a vicious beating and, provided you have the repair kits on-board needed, you can basically repair the thing back up to combat ready nominal status and jump back into the thick of things. With chassis HPs so high, it'll stay alive under severe fire.

The negative:player controlled turrets,,, while nice for pinpointing targets on a vette or space station, theySUCK for shooting down enemy fast fighters. Even with the highest rate of fire craftable elite weapons, the YT is easily overwhelmed by a squad of fighters.

It's alot of fun,,, you must have an EXPERIENCED crew that has the time and willingness to work with eachother to get the hang of things, and for optimal performance, the YT needs one or two fighter escorts to shoo some of the flies away.

That's been my experience with POB ships, also. I always find myself wishing for a fighter escort. Plus I suck at turrets lol.

I love mine. It's a blast to fly around and the mass is enough to allow any configuration you want.

It's one of the few ships that can loadout awesome parts everywhere and still leave enough room for a pair of Corellian Beamrail Gauss Cannons.... it's just sick to fly around with two booming cannons blazing. It sounds sooooo evil.

I'm still working on the loadout in it, but once the project is complete, I'll post what I used to build it.

If you're asking about advantages to flying it over flying regular fighters, it can be a pain to use without a good crew. It can be pretty effective in combat if people know what they're doing. It's like having a yacht that you can take a group on but that's also useable in combat. Although the view isn't as nice. The turrets can be difficult to use by inexperienced gunners. I suggest flying near a static spawn like the tier 4 chiss spot in kashyyk and practicing (the chiss are nice in that only the one you shoot goes aggro). I alsohighly recommend high refire on these guns as it will improve the odds of hitting something. (install a .25 refire null bolt in one turret and a level 10 loot gun with .45 refire in the other and see which you like better). I use a POB shield with 3490 points front and rear and those chiss can't get through it as long as I shunt once in a while. That's a great crew orientation spot for it. It also helps to decide who will shunt and when so that you don't have the ops person and both gunners nervously sucking your capacitor dry every 10 seconds (I use a 9.7 second level 10 loot DI, 20k mass means nothing).

I use several POB parts: 2 null bolt blasters, capacitor, shield, armor. You can loot reactors with higher energy generation than the POB ones, and POB engines and boosters suck. I used max experimentaton for energy on my capacitor so when I overload it I have 3600 energy to shunt into shields when needed.

They're beasts to steer and they take forever to decelerate.

The YT has a disadvantage over other POB ships in that it only gets 2 missile launchers as opposed to three on the nova and decimator (the fact that rebels get to reload in space makes their advantage larger). It's also hard to miss when shooting at it. The nova has the smallest visual profile for a POB ship and the decimator looks coolest in my opinion.

As far as mining, I'd say the most efficient emeans in game is to use a 3-gun fighter with 2 mining lasers and a tractor beam. The Y8 is almost uncontrollable while the fighter can get up close and target the chunk and extract all the smaller chunks as it explodes. People complain about the small (1550 units) cargo hold but I can fill mine and land and launch again in the time my Y8 takes to round up the chunks from one rock. I can't see a reason to try mining in a YT-1300. I mine in my krayt.

Yup the 2 Corellian Beamrails are cute.

My YT, the "Ladyhawk" is now completely outfitted with Asteroid-Mined Elite Gear, including 2 Nullbolt-Blasters....

Also makes a nice Roleplay Prop... Partyboat, Meeting Space, Group Transport....

Stil id wish for more effectivness of a 5-Personcrewed ship versus the same 5 persons manning their own ships each.
