Go see the rebel teir 4 trainer at lok, in the hotel i think. Gives rebel teir 4 BS destroy mission.

Beats camping a spawn point.

While I agree that imperial duty missions should be retouched, I'm not sure I would agree that the devs have placed more time and effort into the development of the rebel tier 4 missions. Two of the tier 4 duty missions are exactly similar, with the small name change of the "boss"-type TIE-advanced. The Black Sun mission just spawns Black Sun fighters over and over and over again.

Honestly, I think all duty missions could just a bit of a retouch, or at the very least there should be more types of different duty missions avaliable after you master.

As for the rebel black sun mission... The developers sure dumbed this down since beta. It used to spawn missile shooting black sun bombers and vehements in some of the fighter waves, now it's just black sun fighters and nothing else... Boring.

Well heres another point of comparision.

RSF teir 4 duty missions, a typical wave is the BS Light fighter and a Bomber (ryxirk's) or two which shoot missles if you ignore them.

Crimson phoniex teir 4 dutty missions are much the same way, only against imperial craft. T/B, T/I's and a T/A ace spawn.

Granted thats still Not much varation, but it beats the hell out of Storm and Inquisitioin squadrons destroy missions. Endless Scyk's of all things, and nothing but. Black epsilon isnt much better, just generic BS light fighter ships under a no name pirate faction.

First let me say this isn't meant as a whine, but some serious observation's ive made while working my way to Imperial ace pilot (currently 4/3/4/3).

Let me also state that i have no agenda here. I have no favorite faction or profession (as ive now played all three). Ive been a rebel master and a privateer master, so this is just what ive noticed as compared to privateer and rebel pilot.

Why do i make a post about teir 4 duty missions:
Cause if you master, other than helping others, some PvP, theres really not much else than take some duty missions and go farm for prestige, parts, cash, or faction. Kessel isnt always an option (espeicaly when its empty), so i feel this puts some importance on teir 4 duty missions.

Imperial Teir 4 duty missions are lack luster. In a word, GENERIC.
- You fight noname pirates. Not hutts, not valarians, not black sun, just generic made up pirates that don't seem to otherwise exist in the game.
- If theres any duty missions against rebel NPC's ive yet to find them. (if anyone knows please tell me ) As stated, all no name pirates.
-Missions are long with low credit payout.

Why is this an issue?
- Rebels can pull BS duty missions as well as Tie fighter duty missions. Rebel pilots theortically have a faction farm going on with the Teir 4 trainer at the rebel base on rori.

- Privateer can also pull assorted duty mission with a bit more variety including black sun. But since im on that subject, destroy duty missions for the smuggler alliance is stupidly hard as it spawns T/Aggressors as aces.

- You just don't make as much money as a rebel or privateer doing duty missions.

To conclude:

what irked me was the fact that they added the Black Sun ace helmet into the game AFTER I've achieved 4-4-4-4 rebel pilot.. grrrrrrr...

all those gazillion Tier 4 Black Suns I've killed during these endless duty mission grinds, the chances I've lost!

Now I'm stuck killing a mere 3 Tier 4 Black Suns per 5 minutes at this spot at Endor =( so boring..

/agree

I am 4 4 4 4 on farstar rebal and 3 3 3 3 on eclipse privater and so far the mission structure is very samey!
It would be nice to more of a change in the faction missions or why bother to do them?
On the whole lots of fun but when you hit teir 3/4 fun goes and grind starts it just seems to be a lot more fun on the early missions and i cant quite put my finger on why?

i never did duty missions. there are so much better places to hunt for xp. lok has a few nice spots where tier 2 & 3 guys steadily spawn. there are spots like that all around. i always preferred those spots to running duty missions

I agree and disagree.

Even reading your examples I disagree that much thought was put into other faction tier 4 missions.

I found mine to be insanely repedative and boring and not really diffrent than my imp tier 4 missions.

Ok so maybe randomly the things I get as a neut may sound like they are cooler, but I find them just as boring and mind numbing as my tier 4 Imp missions.

That's my disagree part.

However I do agree that they are boring and need some love... not just imps but all factions. I personally LOATH pvp.

And other than Duty missions... what is there but PVP at tier 4 and beyond? So we are stuck doing boring missions with no variations.

So here is a Bump because I agree tier 4 duty missions need love!

They start to become a nice thing once you master, not quite exciting but alot more fun than camping a spawn.

In the end, however, its more of a balance issue that gets me. As an imp ace pilot, in order to get the faction points, your only options become overt in kessel and overt in deep space where as rebel you get those two options as well as duty missions overt.

On another note, I wish us privateers got faction for our kills in deep space.

Ah ok... now I understand what you are saying better... I wasnt really thinking of faction when I was thinking of my Imp tier 4 and since I dont get faction with my Neut... it didnt even register

I'm neutral myself, in the skys and on the ground. I just think it should be equal as far as faction points goes.

Edit: And maybe the prices on those imperial faction perk desks will drop!

I agree the duty missions are boring and completely lackluster. Why should I waste time killing nameless pirates when I can be ridding the galaxy of the rebel scum?

I spent 90% of my tier 4 grind time in Kessel. The rest was spent in Endor. All of it was spent eliminating as many rebels as I could find. Ended up getting a couple promotions and buying a nice shiny new set of armor out of the deal .
