Thread: Did I mess up or is this Sony's fault? (The Corvette)

Today I decided to get rebel pilot ace. So I grind out the last .5 of the 4th box, becoming 4/4/4/4. I get a group together, with ease we breeze throught the final tier 4 mission.

Fast forward a bit, we have a sizable group to take on the corvette. But I have to do my 30 kill mission (most of the guys in the group already had the corvette mission) Again, more breezing, then we goto kill the corvette. Meanwhile I go and get the vette mission, and head back to Kessel. By the time I get their the vettes is almost dead, crippled. I invite a few nearby people and then blast at it. It dies in seconds, but..

No award, no nothing. No one else in the group got it, even. What happened?

You personally had to do at least 5% damage. I've been told it has to be 'bridge component' damage too, but never confirmed this specific.

Hard to proove if you did 5% or not, but it happens and you can lose out. It sucks too - seen it happen to people many times.

Good Luck on your next try.

I think i might know what happened. Once you disabled the vette it is still on a timer just like any other ship you disable. After a short time it will simply blow up even though you, or someone in your groupmay have caused a lot of damage (enough to disable the ship). You may have thought you were causing damage to the vette near the end but you may not have if you weren't selecing a specific component like the bridge. Or it could have been selected but your shots weren't actually hitting the target due to the angel you were attacking from and part of the ship was causing an obstruction. If you, or someone in your group, doesn't actually cause the fatal blow then you, and whoever is in your group, will not get credit. Yeah it blows (pun intended ), but that's the way it is right now.

Oh and as far as actually doing damage to the ship in order to complete the mission, not so. The only requirements are that you are in the same group as the people attacking the vette, have the mission in your journal, and are in the Kessel system when the vette is destroyed by a player in your group.

You didn't add enough damage.

lol sounds like a freelance or rebel ace came by and disabled it then left the system, making it impossible for anyone else to get credit for it oh well that sucks but it is life and people will continue to grief others for their own personal gain

I agree that the timer probably ran out. If you disable a ship (fighters and gunboats, too) you get a limited time to destroy it before it 'self-destructs.' If it self-destructs then no one receives any credit for the kill, no experience is granted, no missions are completed.

I would recommend to the devs that the timer is reset upon every additional PC hit that the ship takes with the purpose of removing the cases where a pilot or crew really needs a lot of time to finish off the target. Just my opinion, even though I understand the necessity of not leaving disabled NPC ships all over the galaxy.

you dont even have to hit it to get credit, ive killed the vette for so many people its not even funny and everyone who was grouped and at least withen sensor range of the vette when it died got credit. i have also sat on a disabled vette for 30+ minutes to find out how long it took to self destruct before i got bored and killed it, so i dont think that is the case either. i think you should go talk to your trainer if you havent yet, ill bet you completed it and you dont even know it.

I assume its just a bug, and unfortunately you'll have to do it again. It seems every once in a while there's a case that happens like this, someone just doesn't get credit.

Bria - Electro (N) ~ Shadowfire - Hydrolus (R) ~ Sunrunner - Zaxu Trizki (I) ~ Ahazi - Xonoryt (R) ~ Gorath - Geitizo Nimoirist (I) ~ Radiant - Tygran Virfais (N)

bleh looks like someone just 1-starred me and didnt even notice what i said, so i will elaborate for you, if someone not in your group disables the vehicle there is no way you can get credit for it unless you track down that person and group with him/her. With that said, someone probably griefed you as earlier mentioned and left the system which "could" cause it to self-destruct.

I have noticed in the past if someone got a gunboat or some other large ship very low on health then left the system, that ship would soon go to hyperspace, and im assuming that if they disabled it and did the same it would probably self-destruct, i have seen ships self-destruct before but not knowing why, it would explain some things if it happened this way. either way if your doing corvette mission and the vette gets disabled you better hope someone in your group did it.

He didnt add enough damage to complete the mission, end of story. Even if his group mates did 96% of damage (looks like they did becaus ehe invited some pleople when the corvette was nearly dead) he won't get the mission complete because he needs to do at least 5% damage tot he ship. That's why the best advise is to stop shooting the corvette as soon as it is disabled and let the guy who has the mission to complete it. Noone griefed anyone it's just how the system works.

i heard you just have to be grouped with the one who destroys the vette and be in kessel. you don't have to do dmg.

You don't have to hit it to get credit, just be in zone. Was your group fully Rebel? Or Rebels and Neutrals? Are you sure it was the "Star Ravager"? I had a friend all worked up that he didn't get credit when the group took out the other corvette. ("Corellian Corvette" for imprather than "Star Ravager" For Rebels)
