I decided that I want to use my X-Wing to dogfight... so I would like to know from the best X-Wing pilots, what is the best configuration for dogfighting? Please put the level of each component, as well as mass. I do realize that some of you have loot uber parts or even RE'd parts. I just want to have something to go by when I outfit my X-Wing. Thanks.

the best configruration for the x-wing is to get a low mass REd engine with relavtively high speed, good shields and then focus on firepower. Use reactor and engine overload. it works great, i have the speed and manuverability of an a-wing with the firepower of the x-wing

Reactor: RE'd level3 14k power
Engine: RE'd level6 prenerf reward 95spd 9k mass
Shield: RE'd Level8 reward 2550 f/b 13 regen, 24k mass
Cap: RE'd Level6 49.9 charge 1k power 7k mass (I think)
Booster: RE'd Level4 reward 2039power
DI: RE'd Level forgotten 17.1 spd 1200 mass
Weapons 2 RE'd level6 cannons approx 10k mass each and 2700max dmg; 1 crafted level7 blaster
Armor: whatever I have room for, usually RE'd level 5-6 parts
note: RE'd level6 guns have some of the best mass/effect ratios in the game at present. Mine also have the advantage of looking like traditional xwing guns with a cool "white sparkle" fire effect.
second note: a fast xwing actually has an advantage over an awing in maneuverability when trying to slot in behind a foe and hit him. pulling in behind, and slowing to matchspeed puts your xwing into its ideal turning envelope quite often, whereas slowing down an awing too much makes turning harder.

with a decent engine and engine overload 3, the x-wing is faster and more manuverable than the a-wing with the same engine

but what happens when you use eo3 in the awing too?
i have the following on my awing:
reactor- lvl3 loot 14k output 3k mass
engine- lvl6 prenerf re'd reward 96 speed 10k mass
booster lvl2 loot 22 speed (i need to get a crafted mkII)
capacitor- lvl2 re 39 recharge 920 storage 1500 mass
shield- lvl7 crafted 1900 front/back 11.4 recharge 16700 mass
armor- mkII crafted, 2 sets for 5k mass total
droid interface- lvl1 14 speed 500 mass
weapon- lvl8 incom-tricannon re'd reward gun 25k mass 2500-3876 damage .68 to shield and armor .27 refire rate
my xwing mounts all the above plus a pair of re'd lvl7 guns that do just over 3000 damage each.
i fly the xwing when im doing easy stuff where i just want to get it over with asap (three big guns=tier4 tie dead in 2 shots) and fly my awing when im doing something dangerous (small profile means most shots fired at me miss).
the xwing can mount more firepower than a longprobe can since 3 smaller guns are more powerful than 2 larger guns, and it can imo apply more damage to a target than a bwing can (unless flown with great skill, some people really know how to get'er done with the bwing)
the xwings only shortcoming is how easy it is to hit, especialy in pvp. besides that its fast turns great and packs a MEAN punch. capacitor overload is what finaly made the xwing a good ship, cause without the ability to drop the hammer on all three guns at once it just made no sense to fly one.

A Master Shipwright friend of mine, who is also an Ace, told me he has a similar setup in his X-Wing:
Reactor: Crafted mark 3: 7907 mass, 14391 gen
Engine: REd: Level 6
Shield: Looted Level 8
Armor: Crafted Mark III front and back
Capacitor: Level 2 or 4, depending on the amount of Mass Left
Booster: low mass level 2: 1299 mass
Droid interface: REd: 486 mass, 15 speed
Weapons: 2 level 7 Blasters with quickshot, 1 level 5 blaster with quickshot
He is also using Reactor Overload 3, Weap. Cap. Overcharge 3, and Weapons Overload 3.
I was thinking about doing the same. I have a really good level 4 cap and am about RE my level 6 engines that has a prenerf in it as well.
Anyone using a similar configuration?

When Ihad my Xwing:
Reactor: 1.2K mass 12800 energy RE'd loot
Engine: 9.5K mass 82.2 RE'd nerfed reward engine
Shield: 17K mass 1900/1900 11.5 recharge (Crafted)
Capacitor: 9K mass 1057 energy 45.1 recharge RE'd loot
Booster: 2K mass 22.6 boost RE'd loot
Weapon 1: 14K mass high refire crafted blaster
Weapon 2: 14K mass high refire crafted blaster
Weapon 3: 25.5K mass RE'd reward cannon
Droid Interface: 0.5Kmass 14.6 speed RE'd loot
with various armours
This config changed depending on availability of new/better parts but was pretty solid with WO3, EO3, RO3 and CapO3 - throw in Cap 2 Shield shunt 2 and it's happy times
Xwings are great, but I've gone Neutral now and have 3 RE'd level 8 reward guns on my Rhik with a RE'd reward shield and RE'd level 8 engine (97.5 speed an 75 PYR).
The one ship I am really missing is the Awing, that and the TIE advanced area huge amount of fun with the right parts...
heh, rambling now but just my 2 cents.
