Thread: earning faction points as privateer?

as an imperial pilot, i currently go to an imperial station to declare overt before going to deep space. since deep space is a pvp zone anyhow, there is no reason not to go overt while there. this nets me tons of faction points from killing rebel NPCs.
could i continue to do earn faction points this way if i were to switch over to privateer?

No, because currently when declared as a privateer and going to the imperial station in endor to head to deep space, it gives you the conversation but will not let you in for some reason, even though you can go to kessel just fine.

Same with declaring rebel as a privateer - the rebel station wont let me in, and the neutral station wont either. Its very annoying to have to go to kessel, when no one else has to, and risk component damage.

It's due to the fact you need "Imperial/Rebel Ace Prestige" points to enter DS. As a privateer, you oinly have pilot prestige, not the faction-specific prestige. And your prestige and xp drops to 0 if you drop pilot.
As an RSF pilot, this is my main problem with JTL now.

I am a Corsec Freelancer Master, went to Dathomir Last Nav station, asked to go to deep space, declared Imperial (only option....due to being Imperial on the ground I guess) and poof, was in Deep space right next to the Imperial Star Destroyer.
Am I missing something?

Not missing anything, but if you kill rebels, you get no faction points, only prestige and credit chips.

Ya..I finally figured out what they were driving at.
However, after declaring again (I died LOL) at an imperial station in Dathomir, I flew then to the Imperial Kessel entry point (Endor? I forget) and was able to get into Kessel just fine declared. I didn't try deep space.
Weird stuff I guess.

Yes, Kessel works, but the spawns are rare and it's not a PvP zone, and your components decay if you die. DS is the mother-of-all free for all zone, but if you declare overt before, Last Nav station won't let you in since they only talk to neutrals (and being overt, they see you as Imperial). Imperial Claw won't let you in either, because while you get the menu option, you need 30K of Imperial Ace prestige points to enter.

Only the fact that you will not generate faction points by killing stuff in deep space.
Freelance if broken this way. And I'm kind of annoyed about it.

They really need to fix this and the fact that only a freelacer can sit in the ops chair in the YT-1300. These two things are very very big issues and need to be addressed ASAP.
