Thread: Help me Wanderhomies...
An x-wing is not manueverable enough if your talking about tie interceptors and tie advanced/aggressors. For rebel you will need the A-wing, otherwise your going to require some pretty good gear to be able to dogfight 9 tie ships that are faster and more manueverable than you are lol.
The krayt however is probably the best choice for taking out the decimator, it can lay down some serious hurtin. if you still want to fly in your x-wing then at least bring in another a-wing to help take them out, that way you can be primarily support and not the sole dependant on the 9 ties. In fact it might be a better choice for you to help with the decimator so that both of you guys can get back into the fray faster. The key to taking on multiple ships like the 9 ties you are facing is the ability to avoid hits and adjust targets, it's not a matter of outdamaging them, it's a matter of outlasting them. If your in a slower less manueverable ship that means you can't avoid taking hits, they will always be all over you. however if you have the speed advantage then you can take the opposite extreme where you are all over them, move from one ship to another(changing targets to those that are attacking you). this will help keep them off your back, and as long as they are notright behind you continually shooting you then you will be fine, it's when you can't move fast enough and you constantly get hit that you get into trouble.
Take the Decimator for example, if you were in a decimator(or in your case a YT) and were facing 9 ties, it doesn't matter that you'd have 2k + shields, you just simply wouldn't be able to target and kill them fast enough for the amount of damage you were taking, you would die. However if you jump into an a-wing you suddenly become 10x harder to hit(assuming you move around and fly well). I'd also suggest using Ion cannons in this case, or if you have good RE'ed guns those can be better. But the reasons for Ion cannons is because you have to switch targets often in a situation like this and if you never get through their shields your always having to start over, however if you get a couple good ion cannons you can get past their shields in very few shots, letting you do permanent damage(though it may be lighter damage at least your getting damage done).
Anyways hope that info is helpful. if you'd like to see some fun flying I could go build up my rebels starter ship and show you how it's done on my server lol. He's only novice rebel pilot and just has the first ship, but I've got some pretty good low lvl gear that would make him a nasty bugger even though he'd be doing crap for damage, he'd be so hard for you to hit. I'd be willing to take him up into kessel at novice and tackle any tier5 ship you wanted(without turrets). Because I know that once I get behind them they will never get another shot off on him. If I start getting chased by multiple targets that might become interesting as a novice lol. I have a lvl2 engine that is 74 top speed
and the first ship has the best manueverability of any of them, so they'd never be able to shake me as long as I was on the ball. I also have a prenerf lvl1 droid interfact at 15.0 speed and like 500 mass so I could just slap in EO3 and WO3 and RO4, I think i'd have enough room for all those, if not I may have to drop one or two but you get the point.
for what your talking about you'll probably want at least 1200/1200 shields, and some decent guns(1800+ damage), and a good engine(70+ speed), and good capcitor(40/1000), everything else is just gravy. If your missing any of those items see if you can get your hands on some, but at that level you should already at least those stats, with a low mass droid interface(time doesn't really matter since you can take all the time you want before battle) your good to go. If you have to cut mass in order to fit in better weapons/engine/shield drop the armor, it's heavy and as long as you keep moving and don't let them through your shields it's useless.
