In addition to my Imperial pilot on Corbantis, I am also flying RSF neutral on Eclipse. I picked up a Tier I ship, the Dunelizard Type I. I was impressed that the ship has like 84k mass, but omg, does it ever show it in battle. How are you supposed to fight in that snail cart. I mean, it turns like an elephant, has the manueverability of a sloth, and the hitbox of a blue whale.

I am using a Level 3 engine, 56.6 max speed, YPR 59.9 and a Level 3 booster (max 26.4). I think I have that right, I'm at work, so I dont remember for sure. Anyway, is there a "heavy" version of the scyk fighter, or I am I stuck in this thing?

The slowness of your Duney is a function of that engine, not the ship. I know plenty of people who attained master in that ship.

There is a Heavy Scyk, but only one gun makes life hard unless you have good REd weaponry done and ready for you.

Okay, so basically, I am just stuck until I get a higher level engine? I am 1111 now and my choices of engine are rather a bit, uhm, limited.

I don't know what you're doing wrong... but it's something...

First of all, that's only a mediocre Lizzy, mine is slightly over 85k mass..

And the turn rate is pretty good.. but you're gonna want a better engine, and remebmer to keep the throttle around 3/4 for best turn results, this thing ain't no JSF you know.

I honestly don't know what you're talking about when you talk about manuverability (other than the engine and throttle speed....) This ship is one of the more manuverable non-ROTW ships in the game... but then, you're coming from the Imp pilot prof... just try some of the other freelance or rebel ships... you won't complain about the lizzy anymore

The heavy Scyk is the Freelance answer to the A-Wing!

I used the Dunelizard for a long time, the tactic is to slow to 1/2 or 2/3 speedthen sit and spin on your targets. Learn this tactic since you'll have to do it in the Kimogila and the Rihkxyrk too!

If you're 1111, then that means you are close to becoming 1211. Don't pick anything other than that box, and then find a nice L4 REd engine, or a nice crafted L5. If you're not too experienced with RE, that would be the perfect place to begin. Learn what stats are important on an engine, and what a "good" value is for each one, and then collect some engines that give you most or all of those stats. Then have an SW RE them to make you something that can get you into the 3rd tier. (hint- begin collecting decent L6 engines now, and you might be all set to RE your reward engine, which will more than likely be the part you use to get to master, regardless of what ship you may use)

I am a 4444 Imperial pilot (need to complete vette) on Corbantis. I am getting better at this whole RE thing though. I went shopping yesterday, and picked up some really nice (for low level stuff anyway) parts and a much improved engine. Now got a Level 3 67 max speed ypr 53.5. Still not really agile, but better, and faster, than before. The ship is definately far superior than the Tier 2 mobs I have to face.

It's not about speed, it's about YPR.

Semi- correct. Once you can go faster than the NPCs you face, more speed doesn't matter as much. If you're going slower than the mobs you fly against though...

I am beginning to like this ship, starting to feel like an F4.

The duney is one of the best ships ingame, even post RotW. They're a little on the largish side, and thus harder to use in PvP, but you can pack some really potent loadouts in one. The free mass, and the gun placement are both very nice, and it easily becomes a very effective ship. If I had had REd guns and sexy programs like CtSS and cap overcharge, I would have stayed in my original Duney all the way through my first Ace.

Yea, my son just got his yesterday, and they look really sharpwhen my wife, son, and I are flying in a tight formation. Pretty neat looking. Look like fighters more than starfighters.

That depends entirely on the ship you're flying and how well you're able to use the control (whether joystick or mouse).
