Y-8 Mining Ship Ship's laser is not working. the laser is equipped to the 2nd weapons slot (the one by the pilot) and does no damage hitting asteroids, thus rendering mining with the ship absoloutly useless. Anyone have a fix for this? A friend of mines works, but mine does not. I redeeded the ship dozens of times. The laser is in the pilots seat and is a elite mining laser (Y-8 only)

I was able to mine over 16k resources by myself using my Y-8. I'm not sure what the problem is. I did notice there were times when I couldn't blow up the smaller chunks, but that might have been due to the proximity and angle of the pilot's gun. I never had a problem taking chunks off the main roid.

what you're describing is a common (at least for me) bug. THat happens all the time when I mine with a ship that can mine. You just ignore those little guys and all is well. (PS you can tell when a small chunk won't go when the crosshair reticle is on the opposite side of where it should be).

the problem i'm describing is FORTUNATELY not a common one. it is a serious coding bug which prevents any mining lasers in any slot from working AT ALL.

To clarify, when I wrote this it was bugged, and it still is. The tractor beam just simply does not work well in the pilot's seat. It just wont work in the pilot's seat, and I mean that by two ways. 1) It really does not pull in chunks and 2) its an ineffective placement placement of a turret. You are better off putting 1 or 2 in the chest guns and having friends help you mine. Remember to get any turret to work in the ship, a person must be in the pilot's seat.

i have not tried putting a mining laser in a new turret while sitting in the pilot seat.

You mean a tractor beam in a turret with noone sitting in the turret? It will actually work if you get up, go to the turret, fire it once, and go back to the pilot seat. You can then toggle it from the pilot seat.

i'm hoping that it will somehow make the minig laser work if you have the tractor beam running.
