Hey all,
I have a quick question. I'm gonna be doing some space mining in my Y-8, and I'm going to be doing it solo. My questions are as follows.
1) Tractor beams, what do they do, I never really understood how they operated or how to use them.
2) There's a ton of weapon slots on the Y-8, where exactly to I place (in what slot) my mining lasers and tractor beam so I can operate them solo, and mine efficiently.
Anyhow, those were my questions and any help you guys can give me would help. Thanks.

I have used this config
upper turret elitegause cannon
lower turret elite gause cannon
front 1 & 2 elite mining lasers
Pilot weapon (slot 2) i rotate between mining laser 3, tractor beam or null bolt.
I also use micro chaff and space bombs
mining can be fast with a good crew speed depends on location but always between 242 and 400
range is 400m or close to it depending on what position your in.
Range definately needs to be increased to 600m
I do recommend all elite components you can pretty much mine whatever you want and not worry too much about red dots. I also recommend searching hyper points some are heavey with aggression and others can be almost no interruptions.

It is not truly feasible to mine alone in the Y-8, you will get alot more accomplished in alot less time with a three weapon fighter, such as the X-Wing, imho. However, a crew of 3 or more can rock out some serious mining in that hunk of junk.
