Your pilot skills and stored XP will be lost the moment you resign from the Rebel ground forces. You will also lose access to the components installed in any rebel ship you have in your datapad, so dismantle them first.

Not exactly like you did nothing at all. I assume you learned something, during your flight time, about how to be a better pilot than when you started, so you have that non-quantifiable experience. You also have all the loot and rewards you've collected (even better if you're gotten the better pieces RE'd) which would assist you during your next space adventures. Honestly, though, if you want to leave the service of the Rebellion, what do you expect?

I've answered this before, but no, only if you're with one of the factional navies.

Yeah. All ground factions can be Freelance pilot, so switching faction on ground will not effect that line. But, only imperials can be imp pilots and only rebel can be rebel. The faction recruiters do tell you that by dropping the faction, you will loose any factional piloting. Just think of Freelance as non-factional (which it is, essentially), and you then see that it won't actually be effected by the faction on ground.

The only way is to see a regular recruiter and resign fromyour currentfaction. This will also make you auto-drop all your pilot boxes. Then you can go see the pilot recruiter for the faction you want to join, you will be automatically setas OnLeave forthe new faction and novice pilot. Then you'll be free to regrind your way up the pilot tree.

It doesn't work if you have any negative faction, and you drop all positive faction for the faction you leave. Buy whatever you can from the recruiter first. You can still fly your ship for the 5 minutes before you leave, it's useful to travel to where your new trainer is.
