Hello, fellow pilotswhat is your strategy for mining in this ship?

Do you park it near an astroid and fire away? Or what is the best strategy for minign in this ship?

Park it and use a starfighter with a few macros... you can mine bout 1500units in around 10mins. My friends and I have tried the Y8 and its too sluggish for chasing, tractor beams are glitchy to try to get them to mount, and it takes just too long to get any amount of ore mined with it.

Are you kidding?

I can mine 46K in less than 2.5 hours in a Y-8. Solo. At your rate with a starfighter it will take you 5 hours to do the same thing.

Check out www.swgcraft.com, go to the forums and look in the Shipwright forum, the Y-8 Mining thread.

This is absolutely true. With some practice you can solo mine in a y-8 much faster than a fighter - depending on the the difficulty of the area you are mining in. Mining Carb is easy in a Y-8, harder when mining diamond.

The advantage a Y-8 is a gianormous cargo hold that keeps you in the sky as long as you like. Landing, unloading, launching and rerunning droid commands between loads eats up to much time.

Basically you want to park your ship about 500m out and break one rock off at a time. Try to posistion the ship so when you pop the rock off it floats towards you. Then hit the rock and try to hit as many as the smaller clustered rocks as you can. Don't chase the rocks. If they get out of range go back to targeting the main asteroid. Rinse and repeat.

Good luck!

I saw a reference on that thread between reward tractors and crafted tractors.

Can anyone comment if crafted tractors work? andhave a higher yield?

Thanks.

I use only crafted beams in my Y-8. I don't even own the reward one anymore, sold it to the chassis dealer a long time ago.
