Hi there, after having been away from the game since JTL beta, I have recently returned to check out the CU and some of the expansions. I must say however, I am having the most fun flying around in space. With nearly everyone on my friends list absent from the game, I come to you to gain some insight into the pilot proffesion.

1. Tier 3, can I grind out these boxes or can I only train after completing the quests?

2. Space loot, all junk or what should I do with this stuff? Are crafted parts always better?

3. Ship chassis, I am currently Freelancer pilot 3/2/2/2, what chassis should I be flying and why?

4.Is is always neccesarily smart to buy new chassis or should I just upgrade components until the master level?

Thank you in advance for any answers or comments, from what I have read so far the pilot community seems very civil.

All tier's have 4 missions that must be done to progress tier 1 is four then you can train 4(with xp) rest require 1 mission per box(some before some after) xp as needed (none for tier 3 and Ace boxes)

2. Space loot, all junk or what should I do with this stuff? Are crafted parts always better?

general rule of thumb keep all even RE lvl loot and all gun's, lvl 7 shields (exceptions sell all droid interfaces since a high end crafted is better unless you find a pre nerf one approx 15 spd 500mass, there are threads dedicated to giving further knowledge you will learn if you fly a fair amount

3. Ship chassis, I am currently Freelancer pilot 3/2/2/2, what chassis should I be flying and why?

I personally suggest for freelance stay in dunelizard until 4333 so dune lizard, from 4333 you have a few options if willing to fly RotW chassis but personally for grinding xp I'd reccomend rihk

4.Is is always neccesarily smart to buy new chassis or should I just upgrade components until the master level?

Upgrading components far more important than chassis esp for freelance where one of best is dunelizard at 1xxx

Tier 3 is purely the quests. Any xp you get will help towards tier 4, but otherwise it's pointless.

First, take a read through the FAQ.

1. Tier 3, can I grind out these boxes or can I only train after completing the quests? No grinding necessary. You can do all your missions in direct succession. You won't need XP for your master box either.

2. Space loot, all junk or what should I do with this stuff? Are crafted parts always better? I think the shipwright FAQ has a link to a loot guide. Learn torecognize gems.

3. Ship chassis, I am currently Freelancer pilot 3/2/2/2, what chassis should I be flying and why? From what I've heared, stick with the dunelizzard. Decent handling plus 2 gun slots. Optional: upgrade to Rhyxzirk at T4.

4.Is is always neccesarily smart to buy new chassis or should I just upgrade components until the master level? See previous answer.

Most importantly, don't forget to use droid commands. Either use the link in the pilot FAQ or consult today's Tuesday tip by Thunderheart.

I completely agree. The Dunelizard is a great ship all the way through at least 4333, and if you are attached to it, it will take you right through Ace. I perfer the Style 2 chassis myself, and always flew without missiles or chaff so I could put the mass into better engines and guns.

yup even past 4333 imo better for missions just rihk is better for the xp grind side of things from 3rd hardpoint and 190k mass(not a hard one to hit don't settle for less)

I actually have taken the Dunelizard all the way through master and enjoyed every bit of it. It's a sweet little ship (well, not so little), and its handling and loadout always reminded me of an X-wing. If you're not running into any difficulties flying it, and you're comfortable doing so, I'd recommend you stick with it.
