Thread: Please help, failed first mission!

Ugh! I must be one of the few that failed the first rebel mission. I have absolutely no previous flight sim experience so it is all a foreign language to me. The problem I have now is I don't know what to do next. The first mission was given to me be the reb coordinator in Mos Espa. It was a survey mission of sorts and then I was supposed to kill some imp cadets. Time ran out. I want back to the coordinator to get a new mission but he tells me don't come back until I finish my mission. What is my mission now? There is nothing in my quest journal, no waypoints in my data pad. I went back into space and shot down a couple ships (they must have been even more pathetic than me)! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

On a side note, I sure wish there were some sort of tutorial for us first timers. I read the FAQ but it is filled with terms like yaw and pitch and other such unknown terms to me. Space right now is overwhelming and yesterday I just wanted to quit, but I'm back at it again today so we'll see. Thanks in advance for your help.

Same Bat Mission. Same Bat place. Sorry..........old bad TV reference. But you get the idea. Just jump back in to space and do the same mission.

BTW YAW = Side to Side. Pitch = Up and down. Roll = Ship rolls on it's axis.

ok, basics of what i know from previous real life flight experience, yaw is spinning, like standing on one foot and twirling around, that type of spin is called yaw, in game, its for instance, when you hold the stick left or right with no up or down or twist movement.

pitch is up and down of the nose of the aircraft, when you pull back on the stick you are giving it pitch, same as pushing down.

roll is the twist of the stick, roll is just that, roll, think of a car rolling over.

thats the basics of flight control terms

just don't give up on space, its an awsome experince that is not found in any other mmorpg, its the only reason i still play swg

if you need any more flight tips, let me know, i have a lot of sim and real flight time experience

thanks for the rapid response! Ok, when it said I failed the mission, it said something like one of the ships left the field. I went to all of the waypoints but I think I was supposed to kill three cadets. Do I just need to kill any three cadets? and if so, how do I find them and tell if they are an imp cadet. I shot down a bunch of ships but it appears they did not count for the quest. thanks again.

This is gonna be way vague, sorry. SOMEWHERE in the options there should be a way to turn on the inflight tutorial, might be in the keymap or something. I saw it while I was tinkering yesterday, I just don't remember where. It used to be when you launched that there was a brief tutorial, not sure where that's wound up.

My advice to you - just keep flying, you'll get it quick enough. Read the threads here whenever you can. Always check your quest journal (press J in space) for details of what to do.

BTW Which server are you on? You might be able to find a friendly pilot to help you out.

thanks for the words of encouragement guys. believe it or not, it actually helps! I think i'll just get in my ship and shoot down anything i see for a couple hours. hopefully, some imp cadets will be among my victims. I'm on tempest btw.

honestly if it's first mission probably better off dropping it at coordinator in front of tyrena starport and starting over(there is havoc trainer in tyrena)
