After a number of squadron masteries and thousands of dead NPCs I got my first real taste of PVP last night. A friendwasheaded to DS to faction hunt so I decided to tag along, hopefully to get a few good loot parts and see if any Rebs would come out to play.

After several Rebels zoned in and out on repair missions an old friend from Vette mission showed up in his A-Wing.

Ralen-Sharr my friend I want to thank you. I know the odds weren't exactly fair. Most of the fights pitted Ralen against 2 or 3 but it was a blast,At least twoof the fights were 2 on 1 but I know one was 3-4 on one and you did a heck of a job. My wingmate just kept saying.........Holy crap that guy is good! ROFL

Now the other two Reb pilots I wasn't nearly as impressed with. One gentlemen vaped both my wingmates while they were fighting vettes. Now I have no problem with that. You take your chances when you go to DS. But in a straight up one on onefight I zapped him very quickly. Talent level is very obvious in DS. The 3rd guy never had a chance, my wingmate and I bracketed his X-wing and he made a very nicefireball

My impressions of my first PVPcombat are this. Against good pilots it can last a very long tiring time. And it can also be over very quickly. If I learned anything, it is that I ain't the worst but I ain't close to be the best yet. But dang it sure is fun learning.

I have found it impossible to convey that to someone who has not given it a shot... errr, given it a try. Personally, I'm not an avid PvP'er, though I seem able to hold my own. It can be great fun, as the best times as a Pilot are when you are flying with other Pilots (PvE or PvP). Getting someone to not only try it out, but come back after getting vaped rather quickly, can be like pulling teeth.

Glad you enjoyed it.

BTW to show you how a little maturity can go a long ways. Ralen and my alt grped together an hour later to help one of his guildies do the vette.

Nice to see PVP doesn't have to get personal or nasty.

I must say I find PvP rarely does get nasty or personal. On the very rare occasion where you get abuse hurled at you, it tends to be from someone who's new to PvP and doesn't like it, when they find they aren't at good a flying as the first thought. Suddenly, missiles are the spawn of the devil, and apparently you should announce your presence to all enemies before engaging. But, on the whole, pilots are a very nice bunch. It's practically the same as WW I when a pilot would pull up along side his opponnant in his Sopwith Camel, and salute him, before flying home to drink tea with his handlebar moustacheod friends.

PvP doesn't often get personal or nasty.... unless someone flies an RGI to an RP PvP event and becomes un-damagable to a significant number of the other side and then start lobbing missiles at the other side because the Pilot isn't good enough to actually hit anything with the amazing spread on the RGI.... other than that, though....

Sorry, but I had a bit of a problem with one of those last night, and I was not happy about it.

I've also found the Pilot community to be a pretty good bunch, which makes PvP and flying in general more pleasant.

I really wish they would fix the RGI. I would love to fly it PVP.

My only real genuine distaste of people in PvP are e-pulsers and I don't become very savoury when I get e-pulsed becauseI consider it insulting and a general one fingered salute to the preservation of fun, but that is because I play within the rules etc and am an avid pvp'er myself along with the fact that I always liked this ettitquette that the dedicated pilot community shares. PvP is absolutely fantastic if you're level headed and calm. Not only do you perform better but you learn more too. I'm glad you enjoyed your first pvp mate, well done . As I say many a time, pvp kill ratios mean squat. What does matter is having a good time and unravelling the never ending puzzle whichis each and every PvP encounter you have.

I'm glad to see A-wings are still popular too. I was determined not to let that ship lay to rest so it is great to see other people doing the same.

PVP is great!! Even more so when you fight against people who are not arrogant and are just having fun. I was sick as a dog last night but couldn't log, because I was having too much fun in DS. I pvped for a couple of hours. I died a lot, but I got some kills too and learned alot. Most of the fights lasted a long time too, which means I'm getting better. Ifought 2 imps several times last night and they are both good pilots and good sports. Da'a and Wearea (hope I spelled it right), you have my repect and admiration and I hope to duel you both again soon. See you in Deep Space and watch your 6, cause I'm learning more with each encounter.
