I am an imperial but my alt is going that route in pilot so I figured I would take privateer. Being a little nostalgic for episode 4 I decided on the smugglers alliance based out of Mos Eisley :-)

I managed to get myself to 4/4/4/4 then went to my contact and he tells me to go work for the Rebellion !!! I am not entirely comfortable with this but I am not dropping back to novice either so I go to Doaba Guerful to speak with this admiral. He tells me to go to Kessel and kill 30 imps. I like this even less now but I am not gonna let that get in the way of me getting Ace. So off to Kessel I go.

I start picking on Inteceptors and Advanced and avoid aggressors , that back turret is a pain sometimes. This method gets me up to about 8 of my 30 left. At that point the severe lack of imp ships makes me reconsider and I have to go after those aggressors now. So I grind away and hit magic 29. I do a quick system check and I have about 60% front armour still left after the pounding from those turrets so I figure I am in good shape to go for the last kill.

After about twenty mins my target appears - and typically, its an aggressor. So I focus on him, target his weapon port and come in at him from below to get in some damage without putting myself into the firing solution of his turret.

I took about 85% of his shields on that first strafe and was feeling pretty good until my exit path on that attack intersects a spawn point where 5 Corsairs in tier 5 x-wings appear! I hear that familiar incoming missile warning and start evasives and chaff dropping right away. I take heavy damage to fromt and rear armour but I still manage to waste 4 of the x-wings. The fifth engaged the aggressor, I shunt my cap into the shields a couple of times and re-engage. With the lats Corsair focussed on the aggressor he was an easy target. Then I targetted the aggressor again and got him to 2% systems at which point he punctures my front shield, front armour and disables my reactor !!! I start going nuts...4 hours in Kessel....29 fellow imps eliminated....only to get taken out by the last one!

In a moment of clarity, as my remaining shields, armour and internal components are destroyed by the aggressor in strafing runs, I hit the IFF Scramble command and to my surprise, it actually worked and the Aggressor stopped attacking me. I kept him on target while working out my next move.

Some rebel NPCs showed up and I figured that once I was alive in Kessel when he was killed I would get the credit for the mission as I damaged him and not need to rinse and repeat. I wanted to use my alt to help but since he is 4/4/4/4 imp that negates his being able to target an imp aggressor. So I tried guild chat - no response to my SOS. I hit the friends list and nobody I knew out of about 60 accounts was logged on.....at this stage things seem hopeless.

In another moment of clarity I take my alt to Theed and then Coronet shouting for a Rebel / Neutral pilot with the ability to kill a tier 5 imp ....a few ace pilots looked at me then left without a word. This was really starting to look hopeless. Then I remembered a privateer earlier that day that I had tried to help out in Yavin with a tier 4 mission called Lycaon, I added him to my friends list and he was not online either....blast it! But I also recall a friend of his called Eegat who showed up in an a-wing to assist on that Yavin mission, so I figure he is Rebel, tier 4 at least and should be able to finish the aggressor off so I add him to the friends list and hey hey he is online! I shoot him a tell from my disabled ship in Kessel and despite not being prepped for space he tried to help me, so he launches then his joystick fails in some way and he is also now dead in space and cannot get the key commands working to fly the ship !!!! At this point I just wonder what I did in a past life to deserve this. Then one of my guildies logs on...Troian...a privateer also doing tier 4 and I start to see a little sunshine through the clouds. I shoot him a tell and he starts getting set to come to Kessel.

While waiting for Troian I lost track on the aggressor and so was worried that this was gonna turn into a sekk and destroy for Troian on any aggressor within 3K of me. I have been dead in space for about 35 mins at the point when Troian arrived. So he starts to sweep the area for imp aggressors and then I pick one up on my scope again with a quick /target imp . I can only hope this is the right one...I direct Troian to the ship and get to watch the battle from my dead stop position. I was surprised that the fight lasted about 4-5 mins but when Troian wasted that aggressor, I got the credit for the mission and almost jumped with joy that I would not have to repeat that again!!!

So I head back to my contact and got my privateer ace jacket and picked up my corvette mission which I will do today. Just wanted to share that little event with you all for a laugh and give out thanks to both those who came to assist :

=> Eegat
=> Troian

Much appreciated guys and don't hesitate to call me if you need some assistance in the future.
:-)

ummm... don't know how to break this one to ya...

Your 2 Ace missions, yeah... You can die on them, return to Kessel and immediately pick up where you left off. I doubt they've fixed this yet, but I had a friend I was helping through this mission that died, and when he came back into Kessel, the count immediately picked up where he left off...

This also works on the corvette.

You can die on the corvette, not on the 30 fighters. I have done that several times and have helped people get theirs several times. Everytime the mission owner died the counter was reset to 30.

But your friend could have grouped with you and killed any imp in Kessel and you would have finished the mission too. You don't need to hitit for it to count for your 30.

you also could have sat there disabled and grouped with any rebel/privateer to have them get the credit for you. It's 30 for the group, not 30 for you. So he didn't have to find the one you damaged, just any imp.

I also think rebel pilots can repair other ships in space, so he could have partially repair your ship to avoid being left in dead space.
