Howdy ya'll. I quit playing JTL a while back to focus on my droid engineering business, and now that i've got it off the ground and running smoothly i'm trying to get back into JTL. I'm an imperial pilot with 2/1/1/1 skills and when i stopped playing i had been doing a mission on Lok and all i remember is that i got blown outta the sky by a millenium falcon looking transport and it's escorts. Well i've been playing around and i got up enough experience to get the next level of weapon certs but when i go to the mission guy on bestine all he does is tell me to go back to lok and talk to the contact again...no option to quit the mission or train or anything. Is there a way to get out of this mission so i can train my skills up? I don't mind doing the quest after i train them up but i'd like to be able to use my new guns

sorry, you gotta finish the mission first. the pilot profession is gated through missions

Every box has a mission attached to it, to be done either before during or after you can train. Some require experience too, some are freebies, but to advance you need to complete. That is one reason it is almost always important to grab the Component training first. The missions only get harder as time goes on, and even if you have the bigger roomier ship, it does you no good if you have underpowered gear and can't finish your mission.

Give it a few more tries. Often a bit of practice and familiarity can get you past a mission you have trouble with at first. If it's a total brick wall, email me ingame and I can help out. I have several neutral/imperial contacts

got it this time! figured out that transport has a blindspot if you get right on its butt and took him out first this time instead of trying to take out the escorts first
