Is there a resource that indexes space components, that could tell me the best components that I could find at a certain component level? I could then possible know if I had them, or find them if I didn't. There are so many many components it's hard to price/buy them. Know of any such website or resource? Thx

Not necessarily. A good measure is to look at crafted items in each category, then compare loot to those. Crafted generally will represent the standard for each level.
One trick is to never use something stronger than what you need. Don't strap in a 33k mass 15k regen reactor if you only need a 1k mass 11k regen reactor. Generally don't go higher than a level 2 capacitor with regen in the 30's. That sort of thing.
Part of being an Ace is learning gear, so try to sift through your stuff frequently and compare what you find.

Use your bazaar terminal to search all the vendors in the galaxy. Took me a few months before I figured out that you could do that. Open up your datapad and look at your ship components to compare. The only bug I have noticed in this method is that many times, the details for the vendor items sometimes do not load. This has become more frequent.

There's another post around (don't have the link handy atm...will look for it and post it)
It shows you the top 10% of each stat on all the different levels/types of components. It's a very useful guide...I have it printed out (thus why I don't have the link) and it sits right beside my comp. Anytime I get a drop that I don't recognize, I check it against the list. If it's above any of the numbers on the list, it goes into my "good" loot boxes. Otherwise, it goes into the "filler" boxes.
