And they'd do what? Wash your canopy if you get bug splatters? Tune the radio for you while you're making that nasty 's' turn and can't reach? Settle down the kids and strap them back in the seats?

I really can't imagine a use for them. If you are looking for a 'wingman' a real live player does a much better job, unless you want them to assist you with things (missions) you can't get through. But, then I'd say you might want to practice because I haven't found much in space I can't solo, neither have most of my friends and guildies.

Just like EP3 where u get a trooper pet and order him to attack something, or get a bogie off your tail.
Would be cool.

Imagine a large attack fleet of 8 players and 8 pets. nice...

Being a DE, I'd love to have it so people would have to buy Droid starfighters as escorts. But, I don't know what they could do. They couldn't be good smart becuase then people would abuse them during PvP. And a bunch of Tier 1 ships following you around when you are up against Teir 5 ships? They would just get in the way or blow up and you'd have just have wasted money. Adore the idea, but not easuly appllied in SWG.

I dunno, if they do the NPC wingman thing, I see Tier 5 A-Wings getting REAL popular with Rebels...

Having "pet" ships in space wouldn't work very well, due to how JtL is set up. Player ships are fairly low defense and high damage. NPC ships, on the other hand, are high defense and low damage. Watch a pair of NPCs dogfight sometime, say in Kessel. Unless there's a gunboat there, that fight will never end. That's because NPC ships simply don't have the damage output to beat their defenses. To get "pet" NPCs in space to be worth anything, you'd need them in numbers vaguely resembling a Bomber Strike. But if you have a whole Bomber Strike following you arround constantly, what use is that ability anymore?

Hmm they would suck aside from the fact they would be abused in PVP.

The NPC vs NPC AI is appaling. I was doing a tier 3 imp mission which left me pursued by about 12 X-wings I dragged them through a patrolling squadron of Imp ships. The imp ships engaged but I still had to kill 12 rebels myself due to the ineffectiveness of the AI. I expected the that about 12 tier 4 imps ships would have really reduced the work I had to do but they just seemed to graze the enemy fighters instead of putting a hurt lock on...

Still bought me enough time to do the business myself
