I think I figured out how to make the hyperspace macros work. Type a '/pause 1' after the command:

/hyperspace space_tatooine_1

/pause 1

This seems to get them to work for me.

adding a semicolon works too.

Adding a semicolon WHERE exactly?

I've got a whole bank of hyperspace macros I would LOVE to get functional.

At the end of each line.

DOH... I feel more than a tad silly if it's that simple. Well atleast I can get my home sector Hyperspace macros working!

I use aliases, rather than macros, for Hyperspace Jumps. The reason is that I don't want to have to switch Toolbar Panes, but want quite a few H-Jump shortcuts. I decided to go with /&&& where the first letter is the system and the last two are an abbreviation for the H-Point. For example, /cco gets me to Corellia, Corellia's Own while /nrw gets me to Naboo, Royal Way.

The actual command lines must be typed exactly correctly, which is where aliases get tricky. Aliases allow you to type in text "behind" them (as in an alias for /tell MyFriendWithAnExtremelyLongName). What it means is that the alias adds "spaces" at the end of the command line to allow the /tell aliases to work. That spacing is enough to mess up the H-Jump aliases. The semicolon at the end of the alias means the command line ends there, before the spaces get added, which should make the H-Jump aliases work flawlessly.
