Isn't itabout time we had some proper objective based missions for multiplay.
If you ever played some of the old X-wing series games you'll know what I'm on about.
Why dont we get missions with specific tasks and specific ship types to allow completion.
(Using Reb ships in my example here)
Recon; A-wing
Fighter Escort; X-wing
Bomber Strike; B-wing Y-wing
You go to your pilot trainer and he gives you a group/task based mission which you need a minimum of one of each types to complete.
Mission;
Search and destroy 10Imperial Gunboats.
Recon of target area with A-wing would require an Inspection of potential target.
Inspection of correct target spawns fighters.
Fighter cover needs to take down 60% of escort before bomber strike can move into position.
Bomber Strike needs to do 60% damage on each target.
All GB's and fighters must be destroyed or throw in a dock option for the Recon ship as well.
For the sake of lag lets say we spawn 2 GB's and 8 fighters per wave.
Im sure these missions could be run from any space sector (not Kassh, laggy enough there)
Now of course we can have a some nicer/unique loot here as a bonus perhaps, fp bonus even.
Perhaps even choose your difficulty level as well.
We have had JTL for long enough and I think it's high time we got a bit more immersion from it.
Your thoughts?

Don't be offended. We're bombarded with ideas, and desperately needing bug fixes more. In fact, there's so many good ideas that there isn't much to say to them anymore.

I wanted to refrain from commenting, since I'm not overly fond of the idea, but since you asked.
One of my biggest issues with the Rogue Squadron series of games is that they tell you what ships you can fly. Sometimes, this makes sense. Such as when playing the Battle of Hoth scenario. Obviously, flying an X-wing wouldn't work. Or that strange thing they made me fly on Mon Cal. Again, my X-wing wouldn't really be useful. But if I'm in space, I don't want the game telling me what ship to use. I loathe the A-wing (too much time as an Imperial pilot), and the Y-wing isn't much better. If I'm flying as a Rebel, I want my X-wing. I like being able to choose. Taking choices away from people is never a positive improvement.

Wasn't really talking about the rogue sqn thing was talking about the X-wing series, didn't you ever have LAN party and get all your mates around for a session.
We did regulary and really had fun with X-wing Alliance in particular.
Sure there are loads of things needing fixed but still gotta be room for a bit of optimism somewhere in this old galaxy, otherwise whats the point of even posting here.
We have all these ships available and all I'm seeing is Bel-22 and JSF floating around, solo for the most part.
May be fun to give the old ones a shake down with some quality team tactics.

I never played any of the X-wing games. Other than a really old copy of MS Flight Simulator (I want to say it was something like 94), JTL is my first flight sim. The closest I have gotten other than that was Rogue Squadron for my N64. Sorry if I misunderstood, but that's what it sounded like to me.
