If the YT-1300 is a standard ship that doesn't have pilot controlled weapons and Han flys the heavliy modified Falcon, which after EPVI can fired forward--Luke does it in The Courship of Princess Leia--why can't we modify the YT-1300 to do so.

Why not have a droid command that give the pilot control over the guns allowing them to fire forward? There is a limit to how many droid chips you can load. So a pilot can make a choice to use a slot to assign firing controls. If you make that choice though, then players can't fire them until the chip is removed. That way people can choose how they want their ship to work.

Isn't that the whole point of this ship and the game in general? Customization is key!
