Thread: Having a MAJOR problem!! cant type in chat!

When I launch into space, and try to type IN THE CHAT BOX (The curser movesand prints the text ok...)to my grp mates, all my windows pop up as I type!!!


This is a major pain in the rear! What did I do to get it to do this and how do I stop it and change it back?


Like I said, I click, or do '/' before I type. and they letters appear as I type, BUT at the SAME TIME, I get all my windows popping up.


Its like it dosent know its in chat like its supposed to.


ANYONE KNOW WHATS GOING ON?


I dont want to have to reinstall the game.

lol. hit enter before you want to type something. hitting enter again switches you back to the game. either that or mouse click into the chat box then type. it sucks, but them's the breaks.

I do that! and while I type. it does both! Types in chat, AND opens windows.

I don't know if this is related, but can you remember what keyboard settings you use? I use theclassic galaxies settings, asopposed to the modeless or other MMORPG settings. I'm also wondering if you don't have any keys on your keyboard sticking.....


Not to get on your case either, but you might get more results posting this in the Tech Support forum. They're usually pretty good a solving these things out. At least that's what I'd try.

Thanks. I figured I'd post here, cause it only happens as a pilot.


It was working just fine. I'm a tier 4 pilot on 2 different toons, so I know what I'm doing up there. This just popped up recently. I know my keymap was open, but I only remapped one of my oystick buttons to 'cycle components forward' or something like that.


That was 2 days ago, and I cant figure it out.


Very strange for sure. But I'll have to check back later.

Oh, and I have the basic SWG keymap, and am using the Pilot/gunner one too.

Anyone have any ideas?


Is there a setting that will do this that I can un-do?

reset default settings.. or try pressing / enter / enter / enter and see if it does anything
