tier 2 was nice and easy. i had a lovely spot around lok that let me sail through it. tier 3 was all missions. and now im in tier 4 i find myself doing endless duty missions that are boring me to tears. So i flew around a few planets and havent been able to find myself a decent spot to exp at.

So where did you all go? have jotted down a few notes about missions worth taking(yavin system destroy from the station there, black sun mission from lok hotel, dant destroy mission). any other missions you know of worth doing.

oh yes im a reb pilot btw.

Dutydestroy missions, plain and simple.

Note:

I didn't run the duty missions with guys, having someone disable ships for me to destroy. I simply ran the duty missions solo untill I either finished them, or things got too hot to handle.

A friend and I spent days in kessel. Both of went overt so in addition to the pilot xp we needed we both got tons of fp! Duty missions might be faster, with thier constant spawns (no searching) but SS tier IV duty missions are pirates, and we both wanted to kill rebels

Duty missions never really worked for me in terms of xp gains. The duty missions I was getting at tier 2 spawned nothing but tier 2 tie fighters, interceptors, & bombers. 400 space combat xp at most. I did much better looking for tier 3 tie's that gave me 1100-1200 xp per kill. I'm doing the tier 3 missions right now, but maybe when I get to tier 4 the duty missions will spawn enemies that will give out good xp.

The tier 4 duty destroy missions spawn tier 4 enemies with tier 5 pirates, aces, etc. Your missions will be 1 tier 4/2 tier 4, 1 tier 4/2 tier 4, 1 tier 5. Followed by 2 tier 4/3 tier 4, 2 tier 4/3 tier 4, 2 tier 5. This repeats for some time just adding one to each spawn each time. If I remember correctly, you should be getting about 3k per tier 4 and 7k per tier 5 so this is really the fastest way to grind it out. At least you don't have to keep flying around looking for something to kill.

Check the xp/given time before deciding that higher tiers are better. If you can kill a tier 2 for 400 xp in 15 seconds, but it takes you 1 minute to kill the tier 3 for 1200 xp you make more doing the duty missions in the same amount of time. Also remeber to add in searching for spawns, I ran into this in kessel, sometimes taking 5 minutes to find another one. That searching can really bring down your xp/hour. The draw to kessel for me was that i was in no rush (tier 4 was gated at the time) and the fp are good.

At 3-3-3-3 I started doing the duty missions against Black Suns in Endor (from the RSF Tier 4 trainer) but I could not finish them. Solo'ing 3 tier 5's at once was still too hard for me. I started grouping with my friend and guildie Sha're who was at the same level as me and it was a lot of fun, we completed missions fast and could finish the duty.

At 4-3-3-3 I was still grouping with Sha're and sometimes went solo. I was able to get farther in the duty, butI would hyperspace out when the 4 tier 5's came.

At 4-4-3-3 I continued grouping with Sha're but at this point i could also solo the whole destroy duty, including the final 5 tier 5's. Grouping was faster and more fun though.

At 4-4-3-4 I simply grinded the last box solo on the same destroy duty since Sha're was already starting her exit mission and master missions.

Some advice:

  • Get to know your astromech programs. I'm amazed how many people do not use droids/computers or misuse them.

  • Get 4-4-3-4 instead of 4-4-4-3 first. The better computer and programs will greatly help getting that last box faster.

  • Get programs from other pilots, you can use rebel and imperial programs if you are privateer, etc. You need reactor overload 4, weapon capacitor overcharge 4, engine overload 3/4 and weapon overload 3.

  • Also get Capacitor to Shield Shunt 3/4. It's your best friend. Combined with a good capacitor, capacitor overload 3/4 and a fast droid interface (14 seconds or less is preferrable), this acts as a quick "shield heal" that has saved my butt so many times.

  • When you start getting overwhelmed with too many enemies, especially those tier 5's, do not outright destroy, target the engines, disable them and move on to the next target. You'll reduce the number of attackers much faster, and then you can kill them all once they are all disabled.

Hope this helps.

For my first pilot, I ground in Dathomir mostly, but the spawns were a bit far from each other and it felt boring after a while.

Since then, my girfriend found a wonderful spot in Endor with tier 4-5 Death Watch. There are 2-3 spawns close together, and the action is pretty much nonstop. Its more interesting than a duty mission, but there is the cash factor. This is an asteroid belt near a red nebula. Pretty close to the Red Sin Chimera.

I don't have waypoints handy, but I always felt it was more fun to find them myself.

Yeah, that's whatI love about the Krayt... only master fighter with a turret. My friend Sha're and I are both privateer masters and we are levelling each other's alts in pilot that way.

I think I'm gonna start offering it as a service everytime I go to DS now.
