ok i know that i have to buy software chips that i need to install in my droid.....

once i buy themhow do i install them?

i have heard that overload 4 does more damage as far as decay to the component then worth the output it gives... is this true?

once i get these programs installed, will the commands to execute them show up in my astromech tab when hitting ctrl a to bind the to my F-key shortcuts?

Thanks.

once i buy themhow do i install them?-You only need chips for programs your profession does not have naturally. To program a droid/flight computer, open the radial for the droid/filght computer in your datapad, and select Program Droid. From there, its a simple act of moving the commands on the left side(available commands) over to the right side(programmed commands). And then clicking Commit. Note: Commands that you have chips for, will show up in available commands, with "Ready Chip" by them.

i have heard that overload 4 does more damage as far as decay to the component then worth the output it gives... is this true?-That depends on your view. More people prefer Overload 3 than 4.

once i get these programs installed, will the commands to execute them show up in my astromech tab when hitting ctrl a to bind the to my F-key shortcuts?-Yes. And only when they're in your droid will they show up. If you remove a command from your droid, it will be removed from the list, and even if you still have the command on the toolbar, it won't work.

Thanks.

Depends onhow expendable you consider your engine to be.

How long does overload last when you activate it?

And what is up with that smell?

Till you dock and get repaired, or land. once you dock all your systems except shield settings will go back to default. Once you land however even shield settings will return to default.

All overload 4 commands will incur damage that will induce decay - overload 3 commands, if you dont suffer additional damage, will be fully repaired without causing permanent decay. Thats why most pilots prefer tier 3 overloads; that, and they're a lot more astromech memory-efficient, meaning you can squeeze in more additional programs like CtSS or Rebel shield routines.

if you are a master, dont even worry about the decay, run overload 4 for reactor and cap, and goto deep space and leave when you need to for free no decay repairs. avoid weapon overload 4 like the plauge, and only use engine overload 4 if you have a HUGE reactor. eo4 will make your engine draw TEN TIMES the power, so if your engie drains 2000 power from your reactor, you will need 18000 spare energy to run it without disabling systems.

all overload droid commands will last until you:

1. land

2. repair from a space station

3. leave deep space (the free repairs do the same thing as above)

4. run the emergency shields pilot special (it resets system power settings when it wears off, emergency weap and engine might do the same but i dont know)

use eo3 wo3 co3 and ro3 if you need it, and your ship will become much more powerful. another useful program is cap to shield shunt 3, it adds alot of survivability, and lets you take on much larger groups than you can without it.

Ostat said most everything I wanted to say, but just to put some added detail for the new pilot out there, those accronyms mean:

Reactor Overload

Engine Overload

Weapon Overload

Capacitor Overcharge

These together with captoshieldstunt are GAME CHANGING and if you're not using them to some extent you're going to be out-flown. (mute droid is a must with captoshieldstunt to get rid of that annyoing graphic pop-up each time you stunt)

I don't use any of the 4th level ones right now, but when they fix perma overt bug in ds for neutrals, I love the thought of trying them out a bit.

Did someone already say to always run reactor overload first?

Lastly, depending on your droid interface speed, this is going to take you a minute or two to get running once you have launched into space. For missions, I generally launch somewhere else and hyper into the mission sector with all programs going. Running these will make you want to stay in spce till you have to land too.

DON'T BE HALF A PILOT! USE FLIGHT PROGRAMS!!!

And people wonder why the Shipwrights are all screaming about a "Decay-less Deep Space"...
