i just finished through tier 1 and was wonderin whether i should just update my dunelizard or get a new ship when i learn the tier 2 skill

The Dune Lizard is an amazingly nimble little ship. With 2 hardpoints and a missile tube, many pilots master with it. Granted, some like the heavier ships for the extra mass they afford, just remember, more mass generally equates to being a bigger target.
Save your loot, get it RE'd as you can, and fine tune your dune. It'll take you far.

update dunelizzad it's really the only ship you need. I flew mine well beyond master.
