Dont know about the rest of you but when I get a taunt from an enemy ship, I always lock up for a brief second while it loads the taunt. In PVP this can be a serious exploit if others are getting it too.
I would to request the ability to turn off taunts.
If there already is this ability then please tell me how as I cant find anything for it.

it does work, i wouldnt have posted it if it didnt.
although, you may have to use it everytime you log on, it seemed to 'reset' itself yesterday.
i got a couple of taunts when i first engaged a foe, and then i used the command again and it said taunts were enabled, so it was off but i got a few anyway. turned it off again and saw no more.
either way, it works and if i need to make a macro and stick it on some hotkey, i will.

I don't mind the taunts, I'd just like the opportunity to reply with someting like /shootthebird target or /flipoff target or /telltarget "Blow me"

just to be pedantici think it's /toggleCombatTaunts
if i'm wrong just slap me like the b*tch i am
when i'm on missions and the inquisitor/tie fighters/whatever jumps in, they still seem to send taunts, especially on escort missions. anyone else get that or is it just me and my rubbish system?

It dosen't seem to work as well for mission taunts.. but for random NPC's that jump you, it seems to work. there's still a touch of lag (perhaps where the taunt was, but not fully muted.) haven't had occasion to test vs PvP taunts.
It works, not well, but better than nothing.

i typed the command /togglecombattaunts, just like that in the game, it seemed to work.
maybe thats why it seemed flaky when i went back up later, but when i entered it again, it said taunts are enabled, or similar, so it seemed like it didnt matter.
could be that it doesnt work as well on mission taunts, i didnt really notice, maybe i was just too distracted by the tier 3 black sun fighters stalking me.

I use this command...haven't had to use it in a month....even when I log back into the game my taunts are still off.....the only onscreen messages or taunts I get now are the ones from space stations.....I don't get any other taunts at all.
FYI, having the system messages onscreen display will also cause a bit of lag in space....I don't know why but everytime I get a onscreen message, I get slight lag, especially when I've looted something and get 4 lines of messages onscreen....so when I fly, I turn of onscreen messages and just use the spatial window to see whether I've looted something or not.

Sorry I haven't replied earlier, I've been worshipping the last hours!!! It worked, no FPS drop!
Gotta run, 3 more hours with worshipping to do, then I got permission to goto the toilet.
