Thread: Neutrals and Deep Space

Ok, for some reason, the first time I typed this all up, it didn't go to the forums, so, guess I'll have to do it again....ugh. I'll try to make it shorter, if possible.

Went into deep space as an Imp...and I'm normally neutral pilot, but, a covert imperial on ground. Found nothing in deep space to fight, so, left to help friend with neutral ace mission. Spent about an hour or so doing that mission, then, went to help another friend with the Imperial Corvette mission. Got out there, could only damage rebel ships, not imperial. Was getting friendly fire noise when shooting at imp ships. Left Kessel, went to Tatooine and landed. Spent about an hour or two on the ground and went back to Kessel. Was still only able to damage rebel ships.

Has this happened to anybody else? Is there a certain time limit you have to wait for it to reset? Does it only reset when you leave the game?

Just for some more information, where you even able to shoot imperial ships before doing all this?

Yes, in Kessel and everywhere else, I could attack Imperial and Rebel ships. Hell, the first mission to get Master for Neutral is to kill 30 Imperial ships in Kessel. Second one is to destroy the Imperial Corvette. So, I better have been able to. Not that I cared to do those missions, but, I really had no choice.

Ok, I now have more information about this problem. It has been several days now and I'm still stuck as being Imperial in Kessel. However, outside Kessel and Deep Space, I can attack and destroy Imperial ships, even ones that are associated with no mission, just ones I find flying around. I'd really like to not be associated with either faction outside of Deep Space, because I like my neutrality. And I have not found any way of getting this factional overtness removed.

Nerf bat hit sometime last week. It no longer looks at your pilot profession, but rather your actual faction affiliation. This is the way it was intended to work in Deep Space. However, Kessel is a bug. The change they made to Kessel so that it wasn't full pvp enabled was a half @ss job that caused more bugs. Even though it's not pvp enabled anymore, they didn't change all of the flags and it still treats you that way.

Personally, I don't want to blame this one on the devs. I blame the incessant whining of the community because "Someone might shoot at them."

Which nutral faction are you? Some are haveing issues in deep space. Smugglers alliance is working fine though... Also kessel is a hoot... First strike capability on all targets there.

I did Smuggler's Alliance...so, I guess it is broken. Now, I did mention that outside of space I'm Covert Imperial. Now, if I was straight neutral, would it revert me back to neutral after I left Deep Space, or would it still be set for whatever faction I choose the one time I went into Deep Space?

My advice is to redeed any ship with which you are having the perma overt issue. It has happened to several people after visiting Deep Space. It is not your ground faction, it is which ever faction you declared when you went to DS. Ideally youunload ,redeed, and generate the ship and the problem is solved.

If, after you remove all the components, you are still unable to redeed the ship with no explanation/error given, write up a CS ticket in game and have someone 'fix' the ship.

I know, I know, go ahead and laugh. Most CS replies consist ofa generic email that does nothing and solves no issue. Write the ticket about the inability to redeed the ship, not about being overt in space. In this case, they are actually able to come in and solve the problem.

I am so glad to see I wasn't the only one... and good news, I have found a workaround. But first, yes this is a bug... so please /bug it in game.

I too mastered Privateer (Smuggler's Alliance), and was enjoying helping friends (both Imperial & Rebel) with their missions. I'd also visit Kessel quite often after achieving Ace just for the loot. It was nice that as a neutral, not only could I pick & choose what faction to attack (sometimes both simultaneously), but they wouldn't agro until I shot them.

Then I made a trip to Deep Space, just to have a look around. Same problem as the OP. On my next visit to Kessel (even after landing, logging & server reset), I was still considered factional. Instead of little orange dots, my radar was full of red & white ones.

I wasn't too pleased.

Fortunately, someone in General Chat told me his guildmate had the same problem... but was able to visit Kessel in another ship and remain neutral. So that got me to thinking...

I re-deeded my ship, then re-generated it. Low and behold... next visit to Kessel, I'm neutral again.

Yeah it's a hassle (and dumb), but at least it's not permanent.

Will this re deed thing work for RSF Master pilot?

I was told that after mastering RSF i would become neutral, but ive been to Deep Space as imperial and ive been unable to attack Imperials since.

When i was 4 4 3 3 freelance pilot i was able to attack imp ships.

So if i re deed my ship it would solve the problem?

Please help, im so confused right now, being told so many different things.

Had a long chat with a CSR and he said i should be able to declare as rebel, but i cant, it wont let me.

So will this work?

Thanks in advance.

I dont mind much, friendly fire (or both factional fire) was getting a little rough on my shields

I also found this out on a vette run. I ended up leaving Kessel, going back to deep space as the opposite faction, then back to Kessel. Not avery good workaround, but it did allow me to help kill the vette.
