I've been back in Deep Space faction farming again, and I've been popping off the occassional Star Destroyer in the process.
I'veseen a distinct change recently that's definitely made the experience much more interesting. Is it just me or are fighters and gunboats now spawning in response to major systems damage on the ISD?
I come up on a quiet ISD, nothing else on radar anywhere hostile, knock out the shields (both) on one pass, then come around for the engine. By the time I'm maneuvering into position for the reactor, I'm taking fire from incoming TIEs (and brotha, I mean a LOT of TIEs)that came, from my perspective, out of nowhere.
Now don't get me wrong, if I'm seeing this right, I LOVE it.Where I could solo a Star Destroyer unscathed before, my Advanced X-Wing is coming out of it trailing smoke and flame. It feels like a real fight again.
The question is, am I seeing this right?

I hope you're right. That is what the ISD should be doing. Wave after wave of TIEs should make it difficult to destroy the ISD. I also hope Freedom station is doing the same thing. Has anyone tried destroying it since the patch? Hopefully there's a stealth fix in there to make it destroyable again.
Now, if only I would not lag so badly when the ISD is firing... It was fine before, but now I just stay away from it.

Yeah, a destroyed system component seems to draw a spawn of ties. Also, it appears that the guns have gotten better coverage, yet slightly poorer aim.

I killed the ISD about 10 times total between Thursday and Sunday. I can confirm that it spawns ships in response to attack.
The two common causes are: Both Shields Destroyed (Wave spawns, rear side of the ISD, moves off on its own after a few moments, though); and Reactor Destroyed (Wave Spawns above the superstructure and slowly moves towards the rear, where it will eventually move off on its own too).
I thought these were normal, as I was only a master for about 2 weeks prior, but its always done that for me, from the first time I attacked it back then. If the ships actually circled and patrolled around the ISD, it would be great, but as it is, they eventually leave on their own and are easily ignored through well timed IFF.
